What about the Semi-auto rifle license?

This to me is the biggest issue in NYS. There should be no license requirement to purchase and own any sort of firearm whether that be a pistol, rifle, shotgun etc. This to me is the biggest and most obvious infringement. If you can pass a background check you should be able to walk in to a store and walk out with any sort of firearm you want. CCW should be a whole separate conversation. The fact that someone cannot purchase a handgun without a license is absurd and to me an obvious infringement which I am shocked has not been challenged legally.

CCW is not a separate conversation. Afer one has satisfied the requirements and one is not prevented due to criminal or psychological reasons one should be able to buy and then use the guns for self defense against a deadly threat.

I agree that constitutional carry should be in place in all 50 states. But even in a free state like Florida they have CCW permits yet they are may issue and they issue them quickly. I could live with a setup like Florida’s here in NY.

So one could still buy any AR pistol and then once they own it they could 1st add a 16 inch upper assembly and then a rifle buttstock. Voila you now have a semi auto AR rifle that was acquired legally. Since it is perfectly legal to change a pistol into a rifle.

Yes that would work, but would still be deemed illegal because you acquired said riffle after the implementation of the date.
There are many states you can walk into and buy an 80% lower and just make a rifle that way, not that I’m advocating for anyone breaking the law, just saying.
