By law, it shouldnt be. By some who are ignorant of the law you might be taking a chance in nyc. If it can be flicked open by the wrist only they consider that a gravity knife(because we know they are faaarrr more dangerous than other knives... like a 556 fired from an ar15 is more dangerous than a 556 fired from a mini14). With that said i carry the kershaw link in nyc daily.

I was of the strong impression that it was illegal to carry a knife for self-defense in NY for some reason.

In People v. Richards, the Court found that because Mr. Richards had not brandished the knife he was carrying, nor had he threatened to use it for any unlawful purpose, but told the arresting officer he had the knife for self-defense, he could not be said to have the intention of unlawfully using the knife. Because self-defense is a justifiable reason to use a weapon, it is therefore not an unlawful one, and Mr. Richards conviction for criminal possession of a weapon was reversed.

buy a hunting license .. good all year .. woodchucks during the summer is game ... carry what ever you want .. NYC exempt .. can't hunt libtards there

I do carry one for that purpose and have for years. I only started carrying a knife maybe five years ago and wish I had started sooner. It's damn near as useful as a wallet.

I have been carrying a pocket knife in one form or another since I was a Cubscout. I have been carrying a Kershaw Blur for at least 15 years,

Honestly, I think I would be lost if I didn't have a knife on me. I use the thing about 20 times a day, from opening boxes to peeling oranges to cutting apples to prying open stuff to wire stripping?

and I keep my knives stupid sharp including the kitchen knives, which my wife LOVES. she hates dull knives

I can't find a decent set of steak knives that don't cost an arm and a leg. My current set, Wusthof which I thought was a good brand, suck. Half the blade doesn't even have an edge!

Okay just searched for a link and now I know why they're crap. These were a gift. Turns out they're made in China. WTF!

We looked over and bought a set of Italian made steak knives. They are forged and have olive wood handles. Very nice, elegant, and affordable...beats the German stuff.
