This. I've watched a few from the channel, and he tends to pick the less annoying videos. I'm all for recording police encounters, but many of the so-called "Auditors" are clearly instigating in hopes of a payout. Sure, a lot of cops are stupid, but the taxpayer is the one that foots the bill when the lawsuits are filed.
Sounds like the government needs to hire better employees or provide more training to ensure their officers don't violate citizen's rights. Maybe a whole bunch of both. The responsibility is on the govt. to not violate citizen rights even if a citizen isn't "nice". If they get it wrong then they deserve to get sued, period.
The police pension system should be the primary source of restitution (offending officer's pension first, remainder of pension system as a rollover for any excess liability) for civil rights violations by police with no funds coming out of anything else unless that is exhausted. The pensions should also be reclassed like social security where they only pay out as funded with no tax payer bump to cover any shortage. I bet you'd see rights violations slow down pretty fucking quick if it meant their pensions would get gutted. Shit they'd even start ratting out corrupt cops because if they didn't that person could screw their pension.

Film all you want, I am on camera nearly the entire time that I am on the clock, does not bother me at all.
None of these reasons are in any kind of order.
The way these frauditors speak to people, quit being a coward and say the same thing to these other people, without the camera.
Stop the cowardly attacks on those people being paid to do a job; not just the Police but all other public employees. Stop harassing them. This is most of what these people do.
Stop the lies and made up, internet taught, bullshit. Hint, you can absolutely be kicked out and trespassed from public buildings and public properties.
The average auditor misinterprets some of the laws.For example, Terry v. Ohio requires that an officer possess "specific and articulable facts" providing "reasonable suspicion" of criminal activity before detaining someone. Many auditors have been taught this means an officer must verbally "articulate" the basis for the stop or detention at the outset. That is not the law, although many agencies do require an officer making a traffic stop to start the contact by introducing himself and explaining the reason for the stop.
Any cop can ask any question, they frauditors then start to make a big deal out of nothing, creating issues and problems that are not there. Pushing buttons of public employees. They do this in a very cowardly way. I do not expect much more from them. Pitiful little people.
They all use the same types of lines and phrases, they sound ridiculous and downright stupid.
They waste a lot of time of these public employees for their little games so they can go home and feel good about themselves.
I have no issue being filmed, none at all. I do all I can to ensure they (the filmers, look as foolish as possible).

Skipped through it. While they were probably irritating, I didn't see anything illegal so I'm not sure what the problem is. There are no laws that guarantee you an experience that isn't irritating while in public. I don't like a lot of things people do in public, but if it's not a crime then that's just too damn bad for me. Any of those people were free to leave if they didn't like his recording.

The guy who made the video in the original post seems to be level headed. It’s pretty funny to see how nervous the govt workers get when they are being filmed. What do they have to hide? Many of NY’s problems are rooted in govt waste and corruption. I welcome anything that shines a light on it. There are HUNDREDS of little fiefdoms around the state like the one he is showing. People who have zero accountability or respect for tax payer dollars and think they rule the land. For what we pay in taxes, I think we deserve to see what’s going on.

Although I don't always think the auditors are right, I certainly think it helps to balance things out. A lot of the auditors I've seen that were jerks were dealing with government agents or police officers that were also jerks. I think jerks deserve each-other in this world and I would go as far to say they seek each-other out.
I watch a lot of Audit the Audit but he doesn't really have any skin in the game for or against most LEO's. He just grades them and the auditor based on their professionalism and knowledge of the law.

Everyday our government installs more cameras to watch us , they are everywhere watching everything. We need citizens watching them as well. But there is a right and wrong way to do it. Respect should be shown on both sides of the lens.
I'd go even further to say every government camera in a public setting should be on a 24 7 live stream for the public to view.

I can live with this. The funny thing about most of these fauditors, they almost never show the positive interactions. I know, whatever, right?
The vast majority of these camera jockey's have no control of their attitudes or their emotions. Their holier than now sense of right. So often they are just plain wrong. Some are decent at what they do, a very small "some".
I am only commenting on the question posed in the OP in regards to these camera fools.
My issue has never been the cameras. It is who wields the camera that I have issue with.
The facility cameras and the government cameras, gods only know what they do with all of that footage. Wow.

Despite what some pension reform people and politicians who want to go after pension benefits, NYS and NYC police ( separate pension funds ) are at an excess of current payouts. The math they use for saying they are only 94% funded includes future liabilities ie people who haven’t retired yet. And with the new pension tiers, the system will have an excess especially since guys are quitting before they are eligible to receive a pension.
Oh, just to add, we are taxed on those contributions to the pension as we are working as if it was current income. So if a police officer quits before he or she paid taxes on something they won’t receive. Unlike that 401k match you might receive, the pension is only transferable to another NYS government job.
Civil rights lawsuits. Cops get sued for that all the time. Most of them bogus. If a cop had to pay out of pocket each time because they followed the department rules, nothing would get done. They are following the advice and orders of superiors who vetted it through lawyers, yet the cop would be liable for a decision that 4 of the nine Supreme Court justices get wrong. Think about it. And almost every single person who ever gets told something by a cop they don’t like claims their rights care being violated. The guy in the video is wrong. They stopped him to investigate a possible crime- criminal trespass.

If you have any question about the law, you don't enforce it. It's that simple.
If the cop followed policy, then the department should compensate him for any judgement. If he didn't, then he's on his own.
As for nothing would get done, well, for 90% of the laws on the books, that would be an improvement.
