WRONG.
There is a law that makes possession and carrying of all firearms illegal for all human beings in the state. Its NY Penal Code 265.01.
There are many exemptions to this law, including if one has a handgun permit. None of the handgun permits specifically allow for openly carrying a firearm in public. They only allow people to concealed carry in public. They specifically are listed as "concealed carry".
Again there is no exemption to the law which allows the general public to openly carry a handgun, EXCEPT on their own property or while hunting. Those are the only exemptions.
I challenge anyone to find a specific NY law that allows non-police, non-soldier people to carry handguns openly in public. I'll wait patiently.
What penal law gives security guards, peace officers and soldiers the right to open carry?
