Regarding disassembly, only if you don't know what you're doing. Regarding weight, personal preference. Regarding capacity, we live in NY so what's the difference.

Regarding disassembly, it takes more time even if you know what you are doing. More so in the woods while in the dark. Regarding weight, ounces matter when you are carrying pounds. Regarding capacity, 10 is better than 7. More so when you need to carry more magazines. 20 is better than 14. 30 is better than 21. 40 is better than 28. And on and on. More so if you have standard capacity magazines buried in the ground.

A 1911 is a nostalgic handgun that cannot compete with today's modern pistols for combat. It's like an M1 compared to an AR. They both work well but the design is outdated. Only the older will hold on to them for dear life.

As far as Combat ready, there are still Special Ops Operators that use the 1911 and several SWAT officers nation wide that still carry it.

Guess I'm older then you. 42. Those 1911's for spec ops aren't standard issue. Those are just guys that like them and were given authorization to use them. Dollars to donuts says that they don't know much about ballistics and think the .45 has more stopping power.

Why the fuck does everything have to do with barrier penetration and gel tests and velocity and numbers numbers numbers? Why does everything have to be a boring ass Glock? Why can't we enjoy the old charms of wood and steel and big ass hunks of sub sonic lead alongside of whatever the fuck else? Someday I'm gonna get a 1911 and its gonna be blued and in .45 cause it shoots well, feels good, and is fun to shoot. No reason I suppose. However custom houses like ZEV and Agency Arms have been in that game for a while now. But as cool as the guns that these companies turn out the end product is counter to the central virtues of the original simple, utilitarian, affordable design.

Right but then one can argue why put a skeleton trigger on a 1911 or rosewood grips on a 1911? They do nothing for function. They look good to the buyer. Why can't someone do that with a Glock?

If Wilson decided to do that with Ruger LCP's, I wouldn't say that it was stupid and Glocks are better. LCP's serve a purpose and if someone wants wood grips on them, then why not?

I guess it simply comes down to the 1911 is a good looking gun and the Glock is not, that steel feels expensive and somewhat luxurious and plastic feels ordinary and cheap. The perception of quality does not always exactly match the reality of it.

I was raised on 1911s and revolvers, the glock never felt comfortable in my hand. My philosophy on comfort being one of the key factors in selecting a gun is: If it doesn't feel comfortable it won't get used, if it doesn't get used you will never gain proficiency with it.

I will admit that the Glock grip angle sucks. I cannot stand that hump on the bottom of the grip that goes into the palm. It prevents me from choking up on the grip and gripping it as high as possible.

With that said, I've yet to find a small gun of the Glock 26 size that holds 10+1 that's magazines also have the added benefit of working in a carbine. I have practiced with it and have gotten better and pretty decent with it since it is the only gun I shoot in the range for CCW practice.

M&P compacts are the same sub-compact, double stack size are they not? There are others as well, the CZ Rami for example.

They are slightly bigger, do not have as much aftermarket support, and do not have dedicated lowers that accept it's magazines.

I'm no fanboy, (I only have a Glock 26) but you cannot deny that where ever you go, you will find Glock parts and accessories.

That's my reason for buying one. My battle belt is loaded with Glock magazines that fit both firearms. (Carbine and sidearm) If things go south in a hurry, my battle belt is compatible for both.

The 9mm carbine suffices for myself to engage up to 100 yards accurately (200 yards if I push it) for defensive use only. It's purpose is for accurate shots to get away.

My 115gr solid coppers would be going at 1500 fps. It's more than enough for me to even engage at targets through vehicles. Hell through a pistol it penetrates through glass and car doors with fragile hollow points. These are solid coppers that don't break up.

It's strictly a grab and go kind of thing for defense rather than a grab and load up for bear for an ambush.

I don't compete. I'm not really in to that. If need be, I can do so with a 26 and a carbine.

I know it sounds like I'm being a pain in the ass but I'm not really a gun guy that likes to tinker and play around for sport. Everything I have is for function only. I just need to get something in .308 after I pay off some stuff to have a functional hunting rifle if it every came for me to have the need to hunt. A bolt gun would suffice.

I wouldn't mind doing that. I will probably do so when I retire in 13 years and have tons of time. I really don't have the time being gone 13 hours a day, 5 days a week.

I'll get what I want then unless there is a Nationwide ban.
