I used to worry about SHTF as being a singular black swan event. Like an EMP out of the blue or something similar.

Now, I've totally changed my outlook and it's going to be far less dramatic and instant but the results will be similar. We are on a path of devolving into a slow motion dystopia which is speeding up by the day.

It's completely astonishing how bad things have become in 4 years. Are we going to look back at 2018 and be like.... Man remember the good old days how good things used to be.

Not all disasters have to be sudden or dramatic to effect you.

I am starting to strongly suspect there will be significant unrest this summer.

And even if there is a catastrophe, it will likely not be that severe without a death spiral either causing it or caused by it.

WWIII will either be caused by an economic collapse, or it will cause one, or both.

This month the USDA just re-re-revised the forward price outlook, and things are grim. It likely doesn’t come as a surprise to many CTH readers because we have been discussing the convergence of events since October of 2021, when we first were able to predict Wave-1 (Dec/Jan), and Wave-2 (March/Apr) inflation. However, the underlying data for Wave-3 is double the prior two phases.

Keep in mind the data is national & skewed toward low estimations as represented by (+).

When the USDA predicts egg prices increasing by 19.5 to 20.5% (from where those prices are now), there will be regions with much higher retail increases than estimated.

I live less than 15 minutes away from a local family owned egg farm. They sell B grade eggs by the gross @ a minimum of 5 doz. at a time at whole sale prices. We haven’t gotten a bad egg yet.

Ive been pretty much going the way i have always been. One change is i started stocking some cases of baby formula, as i have new mouth to feed coming in about a month.

I have a decent amount of food stores, and seed banks, but they are split between my current residence, and my off grid 27 acres. I also agree that we are most likely going to see a slow and steady decay, and then some "straw that broke the camels back" events. I almost kind of welcome the slow collapse, if only to be able to use that time to get my family and loved ones set and ready to go to my off grid compound.

My off grid land is perfect for sustaining and surviving a societal collapse. It hits all the bells. Like fresh clean water source, fertile ground, stocked with game, very close fishing source, hidden with only one road in and out and i own that road, stocked well with supplies, bordering pristine state land of tens of thousands of pristine forested acres, and very few neighbors close buy.

That said, i do not live there full time. It is about an hour and a half away from my current home that i am living in. Until i choose to live there full time, and its not in the cards for a few years at minimum, i need to get there to "be safe". That is what sometimes bothers me, is will i be able to get to my land, with all the equipment i have on hand with me, and my family, before its no longer an option to get there. Thats my biggest issue in my mind.

When the SHTF it doesnt come with a countdown on when to leave. I will need get there by vehicles. Its not an option to walk 80 miles, thru 2 states. Yes its easy to get there now, but will it be when i NEED to get there. That is my biggest logistical issue in my life now. The only option i see to fix it, is to move/buy/create a compound that myself and family will live in full time. Or fully transform my 27 acre land into this compound, its mostly a rural, very basic cabin, fully wooded land, for now. Its would be great to bug out to and survive and thrive, better than most, but its not yet set up with the amenities i have in my full time home.

Its a bug out spot, and a very good one. My issue is hoping that when i need it for a survival spot, not the recreation/shooting/hunting spot i use it for now, that i will be able to get there. I understand why some choose to have a survival, off grid vehicle or RV. Now if i had a military tank, loaded with all my supplies, and family, i think it would be safe to say we would get there. Maybe THATS what i need, lol.

Gold and silver are being heavily manipulated to the downside. IIRC JP Morgan had to pay out $900 million because of their spoofing the markets, and there's another precious metals trial going on right now. Yes, goldbugs have been calling for a moon for 2 decades now, but if SHTF really does happen and the banks do collapse, people will rush into gold immediately.

I have PMs for the end of what's to come, but I should have try to have some cash on hand for the beginning of the financial reset/collapse/whatever. Yea cash is losing 15% per year, but cash will be king for a short while once credit card machines go down, everyone is selling off all their stuff to pay their bills, etc.

Read up on the Ogallala aquifier is steadily drying up. Western Kansas, Oklahoma etc is in serious trouble. Trying to predict how this will impact farming and land value on better land with water access is interesting to say the least.

Things are changing and very little is for the better.

Just wait until these asshats out west try to divert water from the great lakes or Mississippi to save their desert cities. The west is going to be in serious water trouble shortly.

I think if you're moving somewhere it's a lot to consider but thinking about climate, water availability, natural disasters, droughts, etc are becoming as important as studying the areas demographics and economy.

I can't love this enough.

If you draw a line on a map and connect these dots, Florence KY, to bowling green KY, to Cookeville tn, to Chattanooga tn, to Greenville SC, to hickory nc, to Roanoke VA, and add in the majority of WV that's the area of the country I'm focusing on researching. The KY bluegrass region, the Cumberland plateau, east TN, the NC Foothills, WV etc.

I'm looking into the mid to southern Appalachian mountains, foothills and plateaus. Some areas are much better than others due to things like demographics but this area is IMO the best region for stability and survival in the eastern us. Mild climate, abundant resources, areas with lower population densities (outside the cities) available water, firewood, agriculture etc.
