Would you use this holster?

I ordered a holster to carry my M&P with a light attached. I take hikes at dusk and sometimes don't get back before dark. Having an extra night is never a bad thing (even if I had to take it off the gun and use as a normal flashlight). I'm a bit concerned about the trigger guard coverage. I can actually put a finger in and pull the trigger. Would you worry about something getting in there and causing a discharge? I contacted the maker and am awaiting a reply.

Maybe a bit. You are hiking, possible through bush and ticker grasses. Chance something could get caught in the guard and "pull" the trigger.

I share your concern. I was looking into Blacpoint Tactical holsters as well. I was not aware there was so much clearance around the trigger guard. That concerns me a lot actually, but I am a bit paranoid when it comes to gun saftey and NDs.

Agree with everyone else. If your in the woods things could get in there and pull the trigger. I wouldn't use it.

There is something wrong there. I've got a Black Point for my Sig and the trigger is completely covered. When I ordered mine I found their customer service to be excellent. Wait for their reply and I'm sure they will make it right. I plan on getting their leather wing holsters for the rest of my pistols.

No but that shouldn't make a difference. The holster is moulded for your specific rig/setup. There must be something wrong with the pattern they used.

I'm reading that light mount holsters seem to have this issue. Something about clearance for the light. I'm not comfortable with this. It's going back. This would bother me on a revolver, on s striker fired gun there is no way I'm carrying in this.

It's very easy to conceal. Button up shirt and go. It's even easier in cool weather. The light does not go past the muzzle so it's no different than normal owb carry. Like I said I like having lights in the woods at dusk and dawn. This is also my nightstand gun so it's nice to grab it and go. I have been lost in the woods without a light in the past. That will not happen again. Even if I have to take it off the gun and use as a normal light I have a back up. Night sights are about worthless in my opinion and I like to
See what I'm shooting at. I will leave the civilian thing alone.... haha

The trigger guard is covered. Right angle shot won't show otherwise. It's just got a gap on either side I can put a
Finger in.

I will post pics comparing my roc city vs this one. I will have to get it In the morning it's in the bedroom and the wife is sleeping. Here are some pics of another kydex holster on a sit and a leather holster on the same m&p. I will also post side pics even though that is not concern, it's the gap that I can put my finger in and pull the trigger. I'm not forcing it in either.

Well Blackpoint said there is nothing wrong with it. They try to keep that gap down while still allowing a smooth draw they said. I'm not comfortable with that seeing how I have kids running around my house. I want a flush fit over my trigger guard. A Raven concealment holster had a similar issue on another forum and the owner of the company said it was a defect and should have never left their facility.

From another forum:
"I was carrying my Glock 19 with TLR - 3 in a raven concealment phantom LC IWB and loved the combo. The reason I stopped using it was the large open area around the trigger to accommodate the light and everything seeming to gravitate towards it. It's large enough I can pull the trigger with the pistol holstered.

About two months into wearing this setup I came close to having an ND. I was chopping down an acacia tree in my backyard and had a twig of the tree make it inside my button down shirt and into my holster. Upon inspection the twig had gone inside the trigger guard and out the other side with two thorns in front of the trigger. I had to pull the gun out of the holster while keeping pressure on the twig till I could safely clear the twig from the trigger guard. One of the thorns did a good number on my TLR-3's bezel while I was doing this.

After this happened I decided to go back to my old setup. I'm going to look at the CT Lightguard when it comes out."

Just something to consider if you are planning on ordering a light mount holster. With that being said I have no idea if raven fixed it or refunded the guy.

Look up some youtube videos on tweaking kydex with a hair dryer. I believe you can gently smoosh the kydex inwards to close the gap. From the right angle shot it looks like it's covering the side profile, you just have too much space. Obviously be sure that the kydex isn't bent into the trigger guard in such a way the trigger could be pulled when holstering.

Yeah, after seeing those side pics, I probably wouldn't use it. I wasn't sure if the trigger guard went further back or stopped where it does. It's possible to have a zipper tassel or something get caught in there. I'd send it back.
