Thanks MS. Much appreciated.
Same here around Chautauqua Lake.Nice work Cgrutt. I know you're downstate, but maybe you should consider advertising around (and traveling to) the finger lakes. Lots of folks have second homes on the lakes and are beholden to the locals, who aren't always the best or reasonably priced. Just a thought.
"varying degree of quality " are the key words here.Same here around Chautauqua Lake.
Tons and tons of work but only a handful of very expensive craftsmen with a varying degree of quality.
For years I have done this type work, floors, woodworking and my specialty, revitalizing and repurposing our areas beautiful buildings from 100 years ago.
With 100s of decades old structures on a lake, quality craftsmen are always in demand. Wood hates moisture.

I am soooo tired of paying for work and then having to pay again it done over. I hesitate to use the word 'Hate" as it is a very powerful word to use. ( I seem to say "dislike" as a replacement ). However, I do HATE it when I have to revisit work done by someone that I have paid to do it under the expectation that they are more of an expert at the job than I.
Heres a story.Yep. Someone recommended the Amish from Richfield Springs since they did their garage for half price and supposedly came out great.
They did 450 square feet of deck or so....nowhere near code. And i continuously find shit wrong like crooked posts (one is real bad but you would have to sawzall the deck apart to fix it), stair not secured etc. wasn't happy.
still not...but it was done quickly.

There are some good Amish craftsman out there.I was shed shopping a number of years ago. Saw some Amish built sheds. Needless to say there is always a big sign advertising that they are Amish built, as if that assures quality. All I can say is there was no way I would have purchased one of those Amish built sheds or anything other than maybe a back scratcher built by them. There quality of workmanship was horrendous and the quality of material was less than acceptable.
I think the problem with the perception of Amish woodworking is the shows we see on TV. They appear to do quality work with their barn raisings and personal possessions. When it comes to mass producing anything they cut corners everywhere. No different than the low life slugs looking to scam homeowners sealing their driveways.
But back on topic....CG does really incredible work. If you need anything done he's the man.
