It’s just a permanent stay for the temporary stay that was issued already. The only thing I am not clear on is what is meant by “motion to expedite resolution granted”
I'm not sure how being appointed as armed security would work if you aren't licensed as armed security. Seems like a bad idea to me. Almost like they're setting a trap.
Me either, I appoint myself as mine and my family protector. Am I good now?
I actually had a friend that was thinking about something like this. He said what if his wife hires him as full time security for her and the kids then would he be able to carry in all of the sensitive locations if he's with them? I say it's a trap because I can see the state agents going into a church and asking about the armed guards. Then asking to see their licenses and arresting them on the spot if they don't have one. It would be pretty simple and effective, and of course it would enable them to take more guns away from more people. Sick huh? I wouldn't put that past the fat ass AG for one second.

The value would change constantly (always for the worse) literally while the customer shopped, ate dinner, etc.

I looked into getting an armed security guard license and it doesn’t seem like us normal guys can and you have to be working in that field to get the specific armed guard license. You can get a security guard license easily, but to get the armed guard it’s not. I was willing to go this far for my church and they were willing to pay for it.

I'll remind everyone that 2 of the 3 judges on that 2nd Circuit panel were appointed by Republicans (G.W. Bush and Trump). When I first found that out I really thought that would play in our favor. Im starting to think I was sadly mistaken....

I do believe you have it backwards. In order to be hired as armed security, you need an armed security license, which you obtain on your own by taking the required training and then submitting the training and fingerprints to the state. The license is a credential that is not tied in with any specific employer, it is yours and yours alone. Like a drivers license and a job driving a vehicle for a living.
You can fulfill the requirements for the license entirely on your own, which is expensive, but not terribly so. Most of the expense is ammo.
People who work security are entirely 'normal guys' in that there are very few advantages given to anyone who was prior LE, military or any other profession. Yes, some LE training may count as security training, but once that initial phase of training is complete, the yearly updates are the same for everyone.
Don't for a minute buy that nonsense of a 'high end security agency who only hires the most prestigious law enforcement or military personnel...' Nonsense. Get the training, fingerprints and submit the application to the state. That's it.
The only connections between your armed security license and your armed security employer are: 1) once you are actually hired, you have to take an additional 16 hours, and 2) your employer may pay for class fees and ammo. I said may, not will.

It would also help if your employer filled out a form with the state entitled 'Proprietary Employer of Security' which makes them a legitimate employer of security. It's a two-page form.
Also keep in mind that having an armed security license has no validity beyond your employer's property.
I would also look into some sort of a uniform, which has benefits for you, those you are protecting, responding LE, etc. It also has benefits if a neighbor to the facility sees your firearm. Unlikely to get a 'man with a gun' call if you are in a clearly marked uniform. Avoid colors used by local LE.

Wouldn't you or your employer also have to be bonded and insured? It would at least be smart if not required. My line of thinking was more of ok something happens where you've been asked to be security for the church or whatever. In court when they put you on the stand and want to know what security training you've taken and you tell them none because the church just said "tag you're it" and "appointed" you as security, I think that will make for a bit of a problem. Especially if you used force on someone and especially if you caused an injury. So now you did something that you weren't ever licensed to do and received no training to do. This is not even taking into account that it's a crime to work security wether armed or not without the license for it. Correct me if I'm wrong on anything here. Either way, seems like a mess to me.

If you work security according to the NY Security Guard Act of 1994, you must work for an employer, whether or not you are paid.
Your jurisdiction ends at the end of your employer's property. Your powers are that of a civilian, but a civilian who is specifically designated to protect life and property, which is all the authority you need to do your job.
You cannot be legally recognized as being employed as licensed armed security unless you have an employer who has the authority to employ security. There is no such thing as freelance - just showing up and someone says 'yeah, you guys are security today.' Licensed armed security cannot do that - they cannot just show up and work for someone who just wants protection for the day from random armed people.
At that point your license would not cover you - you would just be a good guy with a gun.
That employer, to play if safe, registers with the state as an employer of security. Two page form, plus proof of insurance.
How this fits in with the court decisions 'someone appointed to keep the peace at places of worship' etc... I have no idea.

Not to sound paranoid but to me it kind of seems like a trap. Open the door for lots of gun owners to work as a security team, without the license. Then show up and arrest them for doing so. Now they can't carry at all. Anywhere. In fact after your arrest you'll get one of those notices to surrender all guns. Problem solved. Nothing would make them happier.

Within a year or two, we will go to a mandatory yearly security refresher and the instructor will mention that back in 2022 the cases before Judges Suddaby and Sinatra created a quasi-official designation within a church of an armed person keeping the peace.
Maybe DCJS will hit them up for a registration fee as well, in order to feed the voracious state appetite for revenue.
