It's not to carry everyday.
It's the freedom to have the gun when I want where I want within reason.
With out being questioned.

I get it. My opinion still stands though. And I'm not just talking out of my ass. While I have an unrestricted, it isn't valid everywhere or questioned. It's not to carry everyday.

You have to sit down and really think deep about why you want to carry. If it's for self defense, the day that you have to use it and you don't have it, you'll regret not ever carrying it. Especially if it results in the death of a loved one.
One has to put their priorities in order. Is risking their prized collection worth their family's life? Even if it's just you and your family isn't with you, your permanent absence if God forbid something happens to you will affect your family. One has to think about that.
There are many ways to conceal a firearm where it is totally undetectable to the naked eye.
That's my opinion for those who cannot get an unrestricted.
I would respect the places it would not be allowed, schools, post offices, court houses, etc.
I don't know if you guys heard the story about a guy that was in the Galleria Mall in White Plains.
As he was walking in the food court during a crowded lunch hour there happened to be 2 While plains cops near by.
As he walked by they noticed he was printing. They stopped him and casually asked to see his permit.
He showed it to them and it had a Sportsman restriction.
They then asked him what what he doing in the mall.
He said "I'm HIKING". They gave him back his permit and told him to
get out of here and not to let them see him out of his restriction again.
That right there is the main reason I conceal properly and do not print. Even with an unrestricted, I don't want the attention unlike some guys on this forum.I don't know if you guys heard the story about a guy that was in the Galleria Mall in White Plains.

Cureforcancer, no links, never made the paper.
Story was told to me by a retired White Plains PD Sergeant and White Plains PD firearm instructor.
Makes for a good story but he has no reason to lie to me.

Doc8404, it's what I was told.
If I knew it would of made so much controversy I wouldn't even have mention it.
What bs, most "average citizens" in the rest of the state can carry without restrictions. If not right away, then after a year or so when they can prove they're not a danger to society or themselves.I was told i did not demonstrate a need greater than an average citizen to carry a gun, and he cited a cpurt case that ruled a person needs to provide "good cause".

The story sounds about right. It is not a crime to carry on a restricted permit and the restriction only applies to the county it was issued in.
Cops have every right to check you out but have no grounds to arrest you if you have a permit.

No. It's supposed to be for the whole state although restrictions aren't even mentioned in the Penal law.Let me get this straight.
My Sportsman restriction on my NYS Handgun license issued by Westchester County is only
in effect for Westchester County and the restriction is not in effect for the rest of the state.
Does it say that anywhere ?
If so I would like to print it out and keep a copy in my glove box.
Which is to say that it is perfectly legal for you to carry in NY, as it only issues concealed carry permits. Having said that, if your judge should happen to find out that you were carrying beyond his restrictions, he may or may not revoke your permit.No. It's supposed to be for the whole state although restrictions aren't even mentioned in the Penal law.
Except, of course, in NYC which isn't really in New York State. But...heck... the state of New York isn't really in the United States as far as the Constitution is concerned.No. It's supposed to be for the whole state although restrictions aren't even mentioned in the Penal law.

Shall we discuss the fact that there is no such thing (Restricted) in the laws of NY State?
Got the Sportsman, then carry! Those two cops, yeah, it would be hard for them to explain what law was broken (none).
Yeah, the Judge could then deny renewal, or pull the license, but then he'd have a hard time explaining that too!
Fact is they have everyone programmed just the way they want it! The real question is what are you prepared to do if denied? Too many take the easy path! [/QUOTE

Bamboozle them with BS and make them good little dweebs. I have never found a case or heard of one where a restricted permit holder ever had their license revoked for carrying with a restricted permit.
Here are the reasons you may lose your carry license.....
New York Consolidated Laws, Criminal Procedure Law - CPL § 530.14 | FindLaw
An Interesting case where a guy gets his license revoked for a DWI arrest but later gets it back.
Matter of Loesch
Yep. It's always the "I know a guy who neighbor's friend once heard." First they have to catch you which is extremely rare as a law abiding citizen. Then the cop has to go out of his way to contact the judge and tell him that he believes you weren't coming from the range, to the range, or from a hike.Bamboozle them with BS and make them good little dweebs.
