PA Pistol License

I've been wanting a PA pistol license for a while.
So on the recommendation of my friend Ben at Onsight Firearm Training
I took a ride to the Centre County Sheriffs office in Belafonte Pa.
I drove 240 miles which took 3 hours and 45 minutes. I must of been nuts.
But after 10 minutes it was all worth it.
All they required was a one page application, a copy
of your NYS drivers license, NYS pistol license and $20.
With it I get 6 more states, PA of course, WV, GA, LA, WY and ND.
It took only 8 hours. My NYS pistol license took 80 weeks.

No, but I make most of his NY classes at Blue Mountain.

I'll be turning in my paperwork to Crawford County at the end of the month, didn't realize it opened up a few other states as well, added bonus.

Or, you could've printed a piece of paper and mailed in a NH non resident application and gotten the same thing. $100 for five years but can be done while sitting at home.

I'm doing pistol and carbine in Pittsburg in a couple weeks. Got all my ammo shipped and everything, 2,500 rounds altogether!

You don't even need a NYS license to get one.
I took a ride because I needed to get it right of way.

Really? Somone on here was saying otherwise. Its probably dependant on the county then.

Yes. PA law states they must approve a nonresident license if the individual is not barred by federal law or PA state law and has a home state equivalent license (ie unrestricted new York license)

To get a NH non-resident permit you don't have to have one from your state of residence.
When you get it PA is one of the states that honors it.

Just an update/status.
I picked up a PA non resident permit today at the Lackawanna county sheriff in Scranton. It was as easy as others have said. I have a Hunting and Target comment on the front of my CCP. They didn't ask a single question other than what was on the application.

I run an app on my iPhone called CCW. One of the latest updates I received said that PA has changed to now only give nonresident license to those who only have one in there resident state.

That's nothing new. As everyone has stated on this thread, you need a NYS unrestricted CCP to get a PA non-res. Same thing applied 3-4 years ago when I got mine in Scranton (Lackawanna Cty).

Just called the Scranton/Lackawanna office. Planning on heading there early next week to renew my PA nonresident since Pike Co. won't do them. Everything needed:

• unrestricted permit from home state/county
• 2 character references (full name and address, not family members)
• photocopy of driver's license and existing unrestricted permit (if you don't bring this they will charge you an extra $1
• $20 cash or credit

Done while you wait. I'll confirm when I get it done.

pa was way easier than NY... I think it took wife and I 10 min TOPS to get it............

My utah expired!!! damn. gotta rack up those states!! hehehehe
but with the pa I was able to make it to Kty for our vacation...nice!!!

Does every Sheriff's Office issue the permits? Or are there certain ones to go to who don't break balls about non residents? Been looking into this for a while and want it to be as smooth as possible. Thanks

I went to the Cambria County courthouse to do mine. As a resident.
