So I am in the process of getting my CCW in NY, Niagara County. I have no arrests, no jail time, nada. I have been searching for hours but cannot find any real rules or regulations on what I can and cannot do in NY with a CCW. Can you guys school me on pistol permits in NY? How many rounds am I legally allowed to carry in my handgun? Do I have to get magazines pinned or modified to follow restrictions? What is considered "Concealed Carry"? I want to be sure that I don't get put at gunpoint by police in Walmart if someone happens to notice that I am carrying. Can I transport several pistols at once in locked cases with ammunition in the same vehicle? I understand the basics, but I want to be 100% sure that I am complying with the laws and do not lose my permit and have my handguns confiscated. I just turned in my application last week - so we have time (6-18 months) before I get my actual acceptance so I really want to know what I can and can't do in NY. This is not a troll thread - I want to hear from CCW permit holders, as well as those who know the laws and regulations. I don't want to start a debate - I am looking for facts so that I do not inadvertently break the law. The concealed carry course was a joke - it was 3 hours of essentially nonsense and common sense curriculum and did not really explain the laws and regulations. I appreciate any answers and feedback that you all have.
