A couple of weeks ago or so, I had my Marlin X7 listed on GunBroker and got a high bid from a guy in CT. The deal fell through and it became obvious to me, by way of messages he sent me, that he probably never intended to go through with the deal; for instance he wanted me to send him the rifle directly without going through a dealer with an FFL. I relisted the gun and requested a refund of listing and final value fees from GunBroker (my request is still being processed).

On Friday, the auction for the relisting closed, also with one bid on the rifle. I sent the high bidder an email through the GunBroker system to arrange for payment and paperwork. Both the buyer and seller are required, by GunBroker, to contact one another within 5 days (calendar days not business days) of the close of an auction. The guy has not gotten back to me yet and it has been 5 days since the close of the auction. Like the guy in the other auction, this bidder had zero feedback and I wish there was some way for me to block bidders with no feedback; then again, I remember when I was new to GunBroker and had zero feedback, so even if I could block such users would be hesitant to do so.

Now, this deal may still go through and I am hopeful, though not very much so, that it will do so. If it does not, I will truly begin to wonder whether or not anti-gun kooks ae registering on GunBroker and then bidding on items with no intent to ever complete the purchases just to be a thorn in the backsides of legitimate gun sellers.

It's possible, but they may just have the ebay mentality of not being prompt with the details of a transaction. Is there a way you can request that anyone with zero feedback contact you with ffl details prior to them being able to bid?

Whatever is the bidder - a dope, a newbie who cannot get it right, a pain in the arse anti-gunner, a reporter, or maybe someone who bid and sadly expired since placing the bid - it is just my luck to have this happen two times in a row with the same rifle. If I do not receive payment by Friday, I again will have to file a non-paying bidder and request a refund of the listing and final value fees. Just makes me want to .

When did you first list it again? Did you miss the "Hunters need rifles" window perhaps? here's hoping it works out for you. Man, I've never had such problems as you brother, but I don't sell all that many guns either.

I dunno, all they gun shop guys I know say that the non tactical bolt guns just sit on they shelf all year till just before hunting season starts then they move like mad and a couple weeks later they go back to sitting again? I was wondering if maybe you ran afoul of that syndrome?

I cannot believe the reply I just got from the guy with the high bid. He is new to it all and did not realize hw it worked - or in other words that if he made a bid it was a binding offer! Then he tells me he is going with a .270 instead. I guess I will have to leave a 270's worth of shitty feedback for him and report him to GunBroker as a non-paying bidder. I really am beginning to believe it is a conspiracy of anti-gun nuts trying to screw people selling guns because, I mean, like well I mean, how in hell could I get two in a row to bid on the same rifle that were merely newbie morons. The odds against that happening to the same seller, selling the same gun, two times in a row must be astronomical but yet it happened.

I truly think there are more morons out there that either just do not give a damn about the rules and how they screw other folks by not following them and that there are a lot of nuts just looking to cause trouble. I just started the non-paying bidder process on the second guy. They send him a payment reminder, then in 4 days, if he does not pay, I can file the refund request and I will relist the item then.

I am still awaiting a decision from them on the first guy who did not pay, it takes awhile, they must be flooded with non-paying bidders.

I think they have one, sort of but I don't remember what it is since I signed up years ago, back in 1999. I do remember worrying that no one would ever buy anything from me since I did not have any feedback at the time, so I bought one or two items first and paid promptly. That at least gave me good feedback as a buyer. Then when I put up something for sale, someone took the chance and got a good deal and this is the feedback I received:

Item better than described, fast shipment, great communications - an outstanding transaction.

I've received only 100 percent positive feedback since then except for one guy who was not happy and refused to leave feedback and I think two others who just did not bother to leave feedback. There was no legitimate reason for the one guy not to be satisfied, I am guessing he did not read the item description mentioning the condition of what he bought. I strive to give very conservative descriptions of what I sell - either spot on or as the above feedback says the item is better than described.

Yes and this guy is one of them. He sent me an email, last night, saying this:

I do not appreciate threats and no matter how he wanted to veil that one, by saying he was wrong and adding the word kindly, the fact is he made a threat to leave me bad feedback if I did not remove the F feedback I left for him. My guess is he is under 30 and is akin to the millennial irresponsible types. You know the type, they who whine and moan and threaten and go on temper tantrums whenever things don't go the way they demand them to go.

Most of the folks I have dealt with on GunBroker have been courteous and responsible and have either promptly sent payment and paperwork to me or promptly sent items for which I had paid. Not this guy and a few others. He is not the first to threaten me either. The last guy who did that left bad feedback for me at GunBroker and the administrators at GunBroker removed that from my feedback but left in effect the F rating I had given him. I would guess that will happen this time if this guy leaves me a bad rating. Anyway, he is now the sixth person on my blocked bidder list.

This is certainly not what I needed when I could have used the money for Christmas. I'll have to play the lottery today - hey you never know!

Well, at least I found out this evening that Gun Broker refunded the final value fees for the first time around. Just waiting now omn the second request.

GunBroker gave me some Motrin today in the form of blocking this user from being able to give me feedback. They sent an email in reply to the one I sent them about the guy threatening to leave me bad feedback if I did not remove the feedback I left for him. They are pretty good at getting things resolved.

The libtards are AIDS. They have slimed Gun Broker, Guns America, etc. When I am purging things I don't want, I just go with the Rock Island Auction. The only site that hasn't been invaded is Sub Guns; but in NY you cannot buy Class III. Gotta buy that stuff and leave it with a family member out of state; which takes 99% of the fun out of owning machine guns.

Here we go again. Regardless of the term I placed in the auction description, when I relisted the Marlin yesterday, that no one without at least a 95% positive feedback rating on GunBroker could bid, yet another bidder with zero feedback has placed a bid. If this one does not pay, I will see if I can take legal action to at least make him squirm. Of course, this could be a legitimate bid made by a legitimate bidder with every intention of actually paying if his bid is the high one. The auction closes in 5 days, so another week and a half to two weeks should tell about that. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

By the way, the guy who had the high bid the second time this rifle was listed, and then declined to complete the transaction just like the first guy, got additional feedback on GunBroker. Remember he is the one who told me he changed his mind and would buy a rifle in 270 instead. Well just look at the feedback he got after bidding on a 270:

Purchased 270-Almost 2 weeks and buyer has not responded to emails to finish transaction.

A consistent arsehat is he!
