The 2nd ammendment has applied to the states since 1868.
SCOTUS hadn't specifically ruled on that fact until 2010.
But a statute that is unconstitutional was always unconstitutional. It didn’t just become that way when it was ruled on.

He's obvious better for 2a than biden, but he did have two years to do this and it's clear he doesn't really care about guns. This is tantamount to throwing table scraps. And then telling the dog if it behaves it gets more, but it never does get more. Biden instead kicks the dog, which is worse, but the dog is still under the table, begging and hungry.

Uh...IF the feds cannot tell the States what to do during the Cov-19...how can the Feds issue a blanket carry policy? Would it only be valid on federal property and if so, a person is on State property going to the federal property and fair game for any State that doesn't comply. I don't think it's worth anything unless all the States get on board....like that's going to happen

I still support him, and what hes done overall, but Im not happy about his lack of DIRECT 2A help. Appointing all the judges he has should certainly help the 2a in the long run, but pushing for things like national reciprocity, the hearing protection act, and other things would have been great for us here and now.
I also agree that he has done more for America and people who value traditional American values than any other president in my adult life.

How long would it take to get to the Supreme Court ? Look at the NY State carry vs the NY $hitty carry. Is there a violation of the Constitution in either? And if so....I don't know of any actions worth a crap.

Id say anything short of Constitutional Carry is an infringement, but lets say that permits are here to stay. In that case any "May issue" state is certainly violating peoples rights, paying high fees for permits, waiting periods that often exceed 1 year is an infringement. If permits were "here to stay" then it should be nothing more than walking in to the permitting office, filling out the paperwork, and walking out with the permit. No waiting period on a right is acceptable.
The feds should take a more proactive approach to ensuring that states are not violating the rights of American citizens. We are not NY citizens, we are NY residents.

Don’t think it’ll pass because it would be too confusing to work with. If I from Texas who don’t have a permit go to NY with my G19 how would that work? Do I honor NY law and only bring 10 round mags or the constitution and bring my standard magazine? Would those with firearms have a handgun logo on their drivers license or state ID? What if I bring Hollow points to NJ as a New Yorker? It’s too confusing but could benefit 2A and let scotus rule that “everything that’s not a NFA is fair game” yeah...... won’t happen.

They *were* fighting in the pacific, and Africa, and every other theater in the world. You forget that half the world were British colonies at the time.
However, that doesn’t change the value of my analogy. The point is that while the 2A is an important fight, it is not the *only* important fight, and complaining that Trump is not prioritizing it as high as we would like doesn’t mean he isn’t fighting for it.

Its completely illogical and wrong that drivers licenses which are a privilege have reciprocity from state to state, but a constitutionally guaranteed right, does not.

And IIRC, concealed carry has not been determined to be a right under the 2A, no matter what we believe it to be. If it was, then the States laws determined to be opposite of the interpretation of the amendment would be tossed out. Its been a long long time since I took a government course, but I think that is the way it currently works in our government.
Similar to what the left is concerned about by Roe v Wade being overturned. It would potentially identify some State laws as unconstitutional and then thrown out.
I'm back to the sidelines again.
