I am myself inclined towards 9mm/124grain, but as I am not much of a hunter of 4 legged creatures, I admit to being leagues out of my depth on this topic.
So, if I could only have one round, what is that one caliber versatile enough to bag small and medium sized game, and still be able to...
Hi everyone,
After a hiatus this summer I am running a few NRA courses this fall.
Namely Pistol Instructor , Rifle Instructor, and Chief Range Safety Officer/Instructor. I am also running Home Firearms Safety Instructor and the (non instructor) Range Safety Officer course.
Complete...
I was born and mostly raised in a 3rd world country. They are on the list of the top 10 places to die from GSWs. It is very difficult to get a gun there, yet the criminals are awash in guns.
NEWSFLASH: Sometimes our politicians are bigger criminals than the populace. I WiSH I could give...
Now off to register all of my vehicles in my mom's name...since they want to tie PPs to DMV records.
They already do this for armed guard/armored car guard licenses, so I guess I am already in that matrix....
Again, no need to broadly lump everyone together with what is the opinion of a minority. Most of us think he could've handled the situation better. HE thinks he could've handled the situation better. Most of us agree that the store clerk had the RIGHT to ask him to leave - at any point, and...
It is fairly easy to spot the people who have not shot that cartridge.
The round is not cheap, and if I am carrying it for self defense, neither is my life!
10mm - not cheap.
.357SIG - likewise not cheap
5.7FN - not cheap either
It was silly of Glock to push this round as a "Glock" round. No...
When the disgruntled Randall Pierce was walking thru the store with his AR they should have run up to him and waive the piece of paper that says guns are not allowed.
In VA there is nothing to prosecute unless and until they ask her to leave the store.
Ok. I like that we can swear here. For fuck's sake, no one here has said what he did was hunky-dory, or cool, or acceptable. Let's not mis-characterize what people are saying. We can be painfully honest with each other without bringing out the broad paintbrush.
I am sorry, there is nothing in NYS Penal Law that supports your argument Eagleridge357. (any justification of use of deadly physical force).
Or let me say this, if you can find that section of the PL that substantiates your argument, I am always open to learning new stuff every day.
Yeah...
Speaking for myself only - I think we (you and I) have had the same approximate number of trips around the sun.
I don't think you were being a dick. Yes, you pushed that store clerk's buttons a bit, but I don't think any harm has arisen from it. Maybe if you ever go back to the gun store a...
I am right there with you. I do a 10 min workout in the mornings before I shower. 1min of something, 45 seconds of rest, 1 min of something....for about 6 exercises. When I fly I absolutely must do this, as I am (probably irrationally) terrified of DVT.
On training, every round I fire has some...
I think it is the holy grail for new and intermediate shooters. Slow shooting - fast shooting don't matter. It is either a big flinch on the 1st shot, or a great 1st shot and then everything goes to the loo after that.
All of us from time to time forget that the only thing on the gun that...
BulletGuy,
I honestly don't know what changes have transpired in the law in the 2-4 years since I relinquished my gunsmith license. Back then (7 yrs ago, and then the renewals 5 yrs and 3 yrs ago) you did not need a FFL. I got my gunsmith license from Albany, but applied thru my county.
I may...
I use my Glock 18C airsoft for shooting/moving, so I can practice keeping the gun steady.
Also do the same with my SIRT gun, and I have the Laserlyte reactive targets (soda cans and different sized bullseyes).
The most important thing for me is to practice pulling the trigger FOR THE SECOND...
Hi Harry,
Not sure if this question is for me or the FFL (Bullet Guy!) in the thread. I have not purchased any ammo in about five years, as when I purchased those guns I got something of a deal on some .45GAP ammo, where I can still shoot 50-100 rds each quarter and be good for another few...
Thanks, much appreciated.
Hey Deplorable Me, we get shit faced ONE TIME and you post our drunken debauchery for everyone to see? :D
Hi Calculon! What's popping?
I would still recommend a gunsmith license. The sucky thing is, gun smith licenses require a complete renewal every 2 or 3 years just like a pistol license. I let mine expire after about 3 cycles of sillyness.
If you are touching handguns, at a minimum, a gun smith license, and the guns must...
Hi Bullet Guy,
Per the Ministry of War's directive I can purchase all the ammo I need, but will need to outfit the ground troops with winter boots and jackets before any further side arm purchases!
I started a thread on my phone, got to my desk, went to the same sub forum, clicked "create a new thread", and PRESTO, everything I had created on my phone was already cued up waiting for me.
If that's not neat, I don't know what it.
:)
From another thread, the question of carry guns and ammo was raised.
I conceal carry a bunch of different guns and ammo, depending on location, time of year, situation, attire, etc.
My three favorite handgun rounds are 9mm (cost & diversity), .357SIG and 10MM.
A close 4th is the .45GAP...
Hello good Doctor. I signed up a month ago, but for the life of me could not remember the forum name or the simple fact I could google this, OR check the email from the 3 or so people who sent me links.
Don't get old like I did... :)
I don't believe it. More lies to tarnish the good senator's /Sec State/ former 1st lady's upstanding reputation.
What next? Someone is going to post some fabricated BS about Mrs. Clinton saying the Supreme Court got the Heller decision wrong? Or more lies that she had a private email server? Or...
Thank you, and I agree. One area I find I, and some of my peers need work is in that honest self assessment.
How good am I really? What are my weaknesses? Sometimes as Shadow2 says, working where you are weak is a good place to start, but sometimes I find myself working on the things that give...
Yes, and yes. First, I saw a post there, I think by Togmaster, with a very incisive and eloquent use of a very effective word. I brought this to his information via private message, as I did not want to see him banned. I will not disparage any place, just like I would not speak disparagingly of...
Most of us are not passionate about causes until it happens to us, impacts us, or forces itself on us.
We are all better citizens for taking time out of our lives considering the impact of "things" happening around us. This way very little catches us by surprise.
Your house is flooded? At...
Hi Celt, el al.
Keeping motivated and "fresh" can sometimes be a challenge. I train in my mind constantly. Everywhere I go, there is a scenario for me to visualize and incorporate into my "what ifs". My wife thinks I am nuts.
How often do I actually train? Clearly not enough, if looking at my...
It depends on a number of factors for me.
What can I conceal? Deep concealment necessary? What risk assessments have I made? Two legged threat, or four legged? Winter or summer? Potentially from breathing distance or possibly shooting thru a barrier?
If I had to carry one handgun caliber it...
Neat.
The experience varies. Sometimes the PAPD officers check the actual guns, other times they only do a very cursory inspection. It has taken me as little as 10min wait at LGA to as much as 35min. I am now avoiding travel out of LGA due to the reconstruction there. My last experiences was...
When you get to my age, it takes two weeks to get to the computer, a week to create a password and then a good month to remember where you wrote it down! (post it note on the monitor so I would not forget). Luckily I had this site bookmarked AND it is showing up in google searches under "New...
Hello everyone,
Thanks to a few of my colleagues from the other side of town who cued me onto this place. I am Andrew Harris, a certified gun nut (and very little else), and trainer. I see some familiar names and faces here, it is good to know we did not all get swept up in some mystery...
