well meketrefe that was well said but if you read my last post I'm a strict hole puncher with a max shooting distance of 500 yards so hunting and a big fov is not a big concern to me. I'd be interested to hear what scopes you recommend. I've also been looking at Stiener but they're a bit pricey...
thinking of buying a Leupold Mark 3HD 6-18x50 scope for my 308 to replace my Vortex Viper the Viper has been back 3 times and I'm loosing confidence in it I have to say that Vortex customer service is really great but I'm thinking it's time to move on I've always been a big Leupold fan but in...
for me it's the old bland 308 does a fair job ammo is easy to find and fairly reasonable to buy. I own a Reminton vtr in 308 that's glass bedded that will shoot with most 6.5 creedmores out to 500 yards that's about the farthest distance I've been able to shoot it. with Sierra matchking bulletts...
I have a couple of Vortex scopes I had an issue with 1 and I have to say that there customer service was great. that being said I personally am switching to Burris same warranty but they are not just an importer they are also a manufacturer right here in Colorado plus they are owned by Beretta...
non of the new plastic guns bring much to the table there all pretty much the same so 1 has another round capacity or a different back strap or different stippiling they all pretty much operate the same way i maybe wrong but the last really new pistol that i recall was the beretta px storm with...
most Spanish shot guns I've seen in my 75 years on this planet are just ok I had a chance to hold Ernest Hemingway's spanish double and it was not impressive they make serviceable stuff but not in the same class as Purdey or Holland and holland or zefferelli or beretta they may be equal to some...
wonder why there"s not more discussion about this? I know all lot of shooters using flint locks and cap locks talk about it but but modern shooters don't seem to be much involved
speaking of triggers and accuracy I always read about the pull weight but never the lock time. is there a way a shooter can measure this? talking to a retired army sniper the other day and he said that 1 of the reasons the army went with the M24 remington is that not only did it have an...
seems to me as though this is an ongoing problem so instead of replacing them why don't they just re engineer the mags. hell I had this problem 10 years ago
well mine is history as soon as I leave NY or the laws change again not a bad gun just think I could do better with something else and thewheels I can hit a target all day long with iron sights at 100 yards but they won't be anywhere near the bulls eye. it's a fun gun but for something in the...
Hmm ammo dependent! we have a on again off again Mini 14 club with roughly 29 members and unless your willing to put 3 or4 hundred dollars into them they all seem to shoot about like mine. so I think I paid around $750 for mine plus call it $300 for mods thats a bit over $1000. hell a bottom of...
I have 1 that's only a few years old as with most Rugers it's reliable but thtat's where it ends by the time you put better sights on it a strut and some other mods you have the price of a much better rifle. as soon as the Vampirer state allows me to own something other than a mini ranch rifle...
nortatoga I've been on there sight didn't see anything about aftermarket mags just ways that may or may not fix the problem and a lot of praise for Savage warranty service in that they will ship you a new mag pretty quickliy
so I'm waiting on a Savage Mark 11 and all the reading I've done say's that for the money it's an exceptionally accurate 22. problem seems is that the mags are a bit squirrely I've been searching for after market mags but so far no luck any idea's?
thinking of a new medium priced scope for my Remington vtr in 308 moving the leupold from it to my 1963 700 bdl 06 it has an old 1X4 weaver. kinda like either the Vortex Viper or the Bushnell thoughts?
well a few ideas lets not turn this into something it was never meant to be while I'm far from wealthy a new heavier stock would be counter intuitive I'm a 70+ year old hunting in the slide mt. area of the catskills it's tough going for a younger man and getting worse for me every year I don't...
dose anyone know if I can move the swivel studs on a synthetic Remington 700 stock from the bottom to the side. I hunt in really steep terrain and i'd like to carry it like an M4 instead of upside down on my shoulder that way i have both hands to grab onto tree's as i'm climbing
took a hard look ay CZ they are definitly high quality smae way with the Tikka but with my new mantra to buy American as much as possible I've decided on the Mark11 savage thanks guys for all the recommendations they where helpfull
Ok on the bottom of the bolt toward the back by the handle there is a number inscribed with dots that I missed really hard to read once I put some bright led light on it it popped and there it was pretty simple once you figure it
while cleaning 2 rifles 1 a remington 700 243 varmint and the other a 308 vtr I lost tract of wich bolt went with wich rifle since there essetialy the same and fit both what to do? there are numbers on the bottom of each bolt but they in no way correspond to the serial numbers on the rifles...
thanks for the heads up on the Marlin hadn't thought of them Nortatoga you just confirmed my thoughts on Ruger you had to dump a bunch of money in it to make it shoot. I gave my M77/22 to 3 of my grand sons they all gave it back saying Grand pa it looks good but it will not shoot hmm don't know...
so after many years i finaly managed to get rid of my Ruger M77/22 so I'm in the market for a new 1 been looking at Savage or maybe the new Tikka please no Rugers I'm not a Ruger hater but after many years and many thousands of dollars they just don't work for me they look good but never seem...
