Read it again. That law states "except to the extent" of this or that or this.

That statute is not limited to designating an area as emergency shelter.

Further, by the time his opponents get this in a court of law (if they even bother), and his AG counter sues and drags it out, the day of the rally will have come and gone.

Good luck getting an emergency injunction before the protest day comes, and there is no guarantee any judge will grant one even if they sprint in court with their plea.

Theoretically Northam might(!) be in violation of that statute, but by waiting to declare his temporary emergency, its practically impossible to stop it or get rid of it now unless the VCDL lawyers move very fast and get a very friendly judge.

Even if your interpretation is accurate, lawyers for Northam can and will read that to mean "either or" not "both and."

And you can rest assured that the VA AG will argue that in court even if he knows that is not what the statute means.

And unless VCDL has a very crack and well-funded legal team that gets an immediate injunction RIGHT NOW, its all academic anyways.

Maybe, maybe not. Blatantly, flagrantly, maliciously breaking the law never stopped the Clintons for more than the past 30 years, all the way from Little Rock Arkansas, to Washington DC, all the way to Chappaqua NY and her unsecured server: that fed highly classified diplomatic and government intelligence information to foreign powers for Clinton Foundation Cash, wherein thousands of felonies dealing with national security should have landed her in a noose hanging from a lamppost.

It's my theory that Northam was the next hand picked Prog candidate for 2020. A veteran, a southerner, a doctor, a "successful" progressive governor in a southern "redneck" state, who brought "common sense" to the Commonwealth?

Except he had that one progressive flaw that makes him damaged goods now; Blackface hypocrisy.

They don't care that he wore Blackface, but they do care that he got caught and how that effects his chance to win the presidency. He probably didn't disclose it to his handlers or forgot about it, but that's no good when you want to be a Proggy President. If they cared about Blackface (and other VA Dem scandals), they would have made him (and the lieutenant governor) resign.

Its likely his handlers and the power players have told him that in the short term he's damaged goods, and he needs to not worry about biting off more than he can chew and ruthlessly destroy VA.

They can repolish that turd later if they think it doesn't smell too bad, or bury his political career if that fits the agenda better once he's followed the marching orders and implemented ruinous policy in VA.

GREENBELT, Md., (WWBT/AP) - Three members of a reportedly racially motivated violent extremist group have been arrested in Maryland and Delaware by FBI special agents.

The FBI Baltimore Field Office confirms Brian Mark Lemley, Jr., 33, William Garfield Bilbrough IV, 19, and Patrik Jordan Mathews, 27, were all arrested by agents early Thursday morning.

Lemley, of Elkton, Maryland, and Mathews, a Canadian national currently of Newark, Delaware were arrested in Delaware. Bilbrough, of Denton, Maryland, was arrested in Maryland.

According to a release, the three men are alleged members of the group “The Base,” and have been charged with various firearms and alien charges.

In December, the three men gathered at an apartment that Lemley and Mathews rented in Delaware, where they discussed The Base and its activities and members, passed around the assault file and tried to make the drug DMT, a hallucinogen, according to court papers.

A few days later, Lemley and Mathews bought 150 rounds of ammunition and paper shooting targets and Lemley was spotted by an FBI agent at a gun range in Maryland. Court papers say federal agents heard the gun firing in rapid succession .Authorities say Lemley later told Mathews: “Oh oops, it looks like I accidentally made a machine gun.”

Federal agents appeared to be tracking the men's movements and set up a stationary camera near the gun range, which captured video of Mathews shooting the gun there on Jan. 5. Court documents say Lemley had also ordered 1,500 rounds of ammunition and that he and Mathews visited the gun range as recently as Saturday

He better light a fire under their attorney's rear end, because that clock is ticking. Good luck getting a judge to here a case over the weekend. Three days and its go time, and tomorrow's freaking Friday.

Philip Van Cleave, president of the VCDL, has urged all protest participants to avoid engaging with counterprotesters and authorities, and discouraged militia groups from providing security, instead emphasizing that police can and will handle that.

"Lobby Day is a peaceful event about gun rights and NOTHING ELSE," Van Cleave wrote in a statement.

After reading a fair amount about VCDL I'm getting the distinct impression that these folks, as fine and patriotic as they might be, don't understand that we no longer live in America.

The police are going to handle security alright. Security for the assholes writing laws that are NULL and freaking VOID before the ink even dries on em.

They better hope whoever is handling security in Richmond is going not to pull what the Charlottesville cops did when they were purposely channeling pro-Trump supporters and people who did not agree with tearing down statues directly into the pantifa gauntlet.

Van Cleave and VCDL have put themselves between a rock and a hard place here by not thinking ahead as to whether Coonman would pull something like this. Its the obvious ploy.

If they buckle and tell people to not to come armed, Blackface wins. A 2A rally without Arms is a farce. AND that doesn't even take into account the dangerous situation people would be put in if they voluntarily disarm. I doubt anyone going is planning on attending with just a phone in their pocket.

If they tell people to go armed and ignore the order from Coonman, VCDL corporate officers might fall afoul of criminal statutes.

If people show and ignore the order not to be armed, VCDL could still be on the hook if they were the ones that applied for the permit to protest (assuming they did apply for one) and Northam sics his AG on them for it, despite any statements from Van Cleave and other VCDL officers about how they wanted a "peaceful" rally.

If they cancel the protest, Northam gloats and it becomes obvious they backed down to him.

Northam has their gun nuts in a vice on this one... but only if VA state cops, the Richmond PD, and the VA Capitol cops stand with him rather than their fellow Virginians.

Anyone taking odds that the cops are going to do the right thing?

I think it would be amusing if VCDL were to heighten the pulse, really amp it up, see how far they can push Coonman, then turn the whole thing into a no-show (except for the bussed-in antifa that is no doubt already on site). Hold a rally in a friendly county, in a safer location.

Virginia Governor Blackface Northam is bragging to the public after a court upheld his edict to revoke the 2nd Amendment and declare a state of an emergency heading into next week’s showdown with law-abiding gun owners at the Capitol.

The Richmond Circuit Court upheld Northam’s blatantly unconstitutional Executive Order Forty-Nine that bans the possession of all weapons at the Capitol from 5:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2020 until 5:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

Northam gloated in his official statement following the ruling:

This is the right decision. I took this action to protect Virginians from credible threats of violence. These threats are real—as evidenced by reports of neo-Nazis arrested this morning after discussing plans to head to Richmond with firearms.

I’m grateful to the Circuit Court for recognizing the seriousness of these threats, and for upholding this reasonable, legal action to protect all Virginians, including demonstrators and policymakers. I will continue to do everything in my power to keep Virginians safe.

All part of the prearranged playbook. No surprise at all.

Welp I just read the filing that GOA and VCDL made to try and get an injunction against Northam and the Richmond Capitol Police colonel, and its the same court that ruled in Coonman's favor, so Northam beat them at their own game handily. VA AG or someone in Northam's circle knew the first stop in an attempt to get an injunction as going to be Richmond Circuit Court, and they were ready.

You almost have to admire the bastardly underhanded skullduggery of the VA Demrats in this so far. They saw the 2A sanctuary county movement going on, anticipated the blow back, and have undermined the gun rights groups that might make a difference with their protests by showing up heavily armed and in great numbers before they even get on the buses to head to Richmond.

Oddly enough the NRA was able to get their tiny "lobby/protest" event off with no problem in the VA capitol building Monday the 13th without any obstruction from Northam and his cronies.

Its going to be tough for VCDL and GOA to get an appeal of this order in a higher VA court before the big protest. Its almost certain that no Fed court will touch this until state legal remedies are exhausted, and we can bet that the Blackface Gang have all of the legal ducks in a row to fight an appeal in any VA court.

Frankly, Northam should have waited until tonight or somtime on Friday before announcing his "temporary emergency" order, it would have really made an appeal practically impossible.

Probably the only court action that lets VA citizens protest as an armed group at the VA capitol grounds is the Court of Last Resort. They better have their "arguments" ready and at hand.

On today’s show Van Cleave also discusses some of the logistics for Lobby Day, and it’s important to note that even if the governor’s ban on firearms is ultimately blocked by the courts, all other weapons will still be legally banned from Capitol Square. That means the security procedures will still be in place Monday morning; one entrance with multiple magnetometers to screen those who want to participate in the Lobby Day activities and rally from the capitol grounds. Van Cleave also notes that areas adjacent to the capitol grounds will be open to those who want to legally carry.

The Capitol Police will allow 10,000 individuals onto the capitol grounds, but we really have no idea how many folks to expect on Monday. Governor Northam is doing his best to drive down attendance, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see 20-30,000 people in downtown Richmond Monday morning, and there’s a distinct possibility that we’ll see a far larger crowd.
