NO I get his concern too. he also asked us all last year to not let small deer go and asked that no one pop a yearling or something ccrazy... so only above 4 pts for a few years now 6pt and over........ I get that...hes tryin to manage his land but dammit I wanna turkey!! hehehehehehe

hes the kind of hunter too that does not like sitting..he likes doing drives!! I agree with most of it...I just wanna turkey....I am gonna try naples and hemlock lake areas......No real flat open areas at hemlock all hilly so I may be better in naples...that part is NWTF managed area too.....so that should be good.

Maybe time to start saving for land. I see nice land pop up. Somebody put 37 acres up in Brockport a day or two ago for $80k. It looked like absolutely money hunting land. Just what you want: woods with a stream and farm fields on either side. $2k acre reasonable drive from the city, not that coming up with $80k on a hobby is easy by any means, but...

Ok then...I will concentrate there then probably as hemlock not 4 miles or some from my house. so at the springwater end..Ive been down there before and have hunted deer there before. I was walking / stalking in the woods fields there one year Tall grass...to a spot I wanted to set up and came face to face literally with a doe and we BOTH got spooked!!!!!!!!! heehehehehe
Ok I know where I need to go then.......thanks for the input........maybe this will be my year!! never gotten a turkey before/yet!! I got my first deer years ago! but never a Turkey yet?! the are smart birds!!! I raised turkeys was on the homestead and they are DUMB........

yeah Naples is a good spot. I’ve seen some good parcels come up this summer—I have an alert on the doebler realty site.

after weekend #2 i cannot find a turkey in the frozen food section at tops or wegman's. Man I cannot come up on a flock or anything at all this year.

what is my problem. I even tried hunting till like 3 pm yesterday...thought if I walked enough and put i the time I find something!!!!!!!!!

I just cant find anything out there...... I realized at one place yesterday wasn't correct habitat as no oaks or berry's so I left and went to another.

This is awfully discouraging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gonna take thursday and friday to go out one last time.....I may just quit turkey all together !!!!!!!!!!

This will my first season not deer hunting. I'm done, bothers my back too much and it takes all the enjoyment out of it.

Agreed.
Not sure how many more years I can go.
I used to love to hike/ explore and stump hunt, now I have stands that are 75 yds from the truck.
Field dressing and any kind of drag hurts for days.

Take note you young guys and enjoy it while you are blessed with youth.

I just got another DMP from the DEC. Originally was turned down but there wasn't many people that applied for that unit so they sent one to me.
I doubt I'll get out much this year, besides I just bought a quarter of beef and not much room in the freezer.

Here's this years hunting tip..
If an old friend shows up to hunting camp on opening weekend of rifle season driving a rented 14 passenger van plan on doing a lot of bar hopping and very little hunting..

I MIGHT be able to get out the last weekend of regular season. All my fear is currently buried in a storage unit. House closing is supposed to the Nov 15 and move date is slated for Nov 23. Who even knows what will happen this year.
