Can't wait, going hunting for the first time tomorrow. I only have 1 buck tag but hoping to get something decent first time out.

I went hunting today and saw shit. Literally found a spot with piles upon piles of deer shit so I set up there and no deer. 2 shots were heard within a reasonable distance.

Saw 3 squirrels. Heard a goose. Saw some big ass bird over a swamp. Not sure what it was. Too far away. Didn't see any deer. Heard a bunch of shots around 10 and again at 3
She is having ir tanned as we speak.

I saw two flocks of turkey’s and heard a third. Yes all separate. Of course during turkey season I saw none. Last deer season went out twice and saw 8 doe. No doe tag. Get a doe tag and can’t get a shot. Today I spooked a grousse and it literally flew 275 degrees around me. I followed it and said there’s a shot, there’s a shot, there’s a shot oh wait I have my rifle so it lived. What a joke. I see deer when I turkey hunt and see turkey when I deer hunt. I’m a tad frustrated today.

Well, this happened. At 7:25 am, I spotted a six-point buck on his way back up the ridge. After confirming the deer satisfied the antler restriction, I had a perfect broadside at a little over 100 yards. The result, a clean miss. I’m hoping it was the buck-fever and not something more serious. I searched an hour for any blood sign before I let it go.

First time hunting. Sat in freezing rain and cold weather yesterday for 9 hours. Didn’t even see a damn squirrel.

I didn’t see any deer, did see a beaver, two ducks and a flock of geese flying over. Found out later that the area had been hunted pretty hard over the last week.

Most of the deer I’ve seen have been too small. I’ll take a small one next week, if I have to.

Just got back from 2.5 days in Franklinville. Weather was pretty cooperative, especially today. Cold and crisp but beautiful....
In summary, this camp had between 6-7 guys since opening day. I was the only one to even take a shot. 2 does at 224 yds, 6.5 Grendel. Sadly, no blood, no deer. Not sure why. After almost 3 years my buddy finally shows me the spot I've been looking for...
Old logging road that cuts between lower woods and upper fields. Tall grass to hide in, low and out of the winds. I plan on being back to this spot....this year or next.

We have about six people hunting 300 acres here in Northern Madison County and it's by far the worst season I can remember for deer sightings. A few small bucks have been given the pass and one doe was taken from our crew. At this point we're all hunting a just average 6 pointer for the thrill. He is the only decent deer showing up on the cameras. Talking to other property owners and hunters in my area seem to all have the same results,, no good numbers of deer this year.

I stayed home today. Would have been a beautiful day to be in the woods. Sunday is my son's only weekend day off and he needed help with a project.

From everyone else’s statements you got more out of helping your kid.
I took a drive to do a hike with my wife, kids, and MIL and thought about bringing my shotgun. Of course there were three deer sitting in a filed in a wildlife management area you can hunt. Oh well.

Yeah. I don't know what is going this year. I've been out 3 times this week. Haven't seen anything. Of course it doesn't help that I don't have a regular place to go this year that I would have had a chance to scout. I'm hunting Stewart Forest this year. It's close. Takes me half an hour to get ready and most of that is putting on the stupid ankle brace so I can at least walk in the woods with less chance of falling down. Still can't hike that far or rough terrain so I get into an area that looks like I might be able to see something and sit.

The only significant aberration this year is all the city-folks hiking the public lands in order to escape COVID. It has severally reduced the hours I can hunt some land and eliminated others completely. Nothing like having a bunch of shouting rug-rats clear the woods when they show up promptly at 9 am. Still I’ve found my little pockets away from the hiking trails.
Non-hunters are supposed to be banned from Stewart during hunting season. But, I’ve seen that ignored in past years. I’ll probably grab my smoke-pole and try to fill my 3M tag later in December

Three hunting days so far. Saw plenty of does, but no bucks on opening day. Nothing on Day 2. Ready to take a doe at this point, but I went hunting with friends in a property outside where I have my DMPs and only saw a couple of does. Next week and probably the week after, I'm hunting public land to take two first time hunters out, so I'll only punch my tag if they absolutely can't take the shot. It's looking like this might be the first year I don't come home with anything.

The state was considering an extended season out to January 1st for bow and muzzle loading for much of the state. Haven't read anything new on the proposal since early November.

God forbid they miss a week of filling the woods with gas fumes. I’ve hunted small game until the end of February, I don’t see a problem sharing.

i almost hit 3 deer on my way back home, 1 running across highway, [had to slam the brakes]
2 were simply standing in the middle of the road and wont move. had to honk, to get them going.
