I'm over this season. Barely seeing anything moving in daylight hrs and I just lost permission to the private land I hunt for gun season
About to just take the fishing gear back out and forget about deer.
Similar situation. Season opens Saturday and still no place to go. My ticket to the farm where I've gone the last few years burnt that bridge to the ground. Might just end up sitting this one out.

Had permission for a few years but than a guy that use to hunt the place before me decided he wanted to hunt there again and brought his whole family with him. So, I got the boot.
Might try my public land spots but this place packs up for opening weekend and I don't want to get shot.
Wish the public land situation was better here. Mostly just small pieces of land so hiking in deep to avoid people isn't a option.

A friend of mine actually saw this deer just drop dead in front of his shop. Haven't talked to him yet. Curious to find out if the wound is from a gun, arrow , or vehicle collision. But gun is defiantly not open here in the Oneida area..

No deer to speak of for months here, about 45 minutes ago I go over by the dog by the window, we see a short plump doe right out in the front yard (so short I almost thought it was a mutant tall coyote lol).
Couple minutes later the dog perks up again - a short, fat, Texas longhorn buck following her probably 8 points or more with a wide, flat rack well outside the ears. Maybe 20 yards out the front windows.
Took a stalk which started with- I swear I wasn't baiting em; I'm pretty sure it wasn't squirrels that flung the pumpkins across the back patio. Both of these were on the far wall an hour earlier.

Starting gun this weekend down at NF's house. We've been watching a big ass buck walking around that we both want. Also got an invite to hunt w/ a friend of mine, so I'll probably visit him this coming week or next weekend.
NF also told me that I can order my tags right online, I had no idea! I usually take the drive over to Sportsmans to get mine, but since I'm on the computer all day for work, this makes a lot of sense.

You can but they take 3 weeks or so to deliver them. You can't print them. They snail mail them.

Ugh. I may miss out on this season too. I've been swamped with home projects on the weekends and haven't had time to even think about hunting. Maybe I'll get out late-season, or after Thanksgiving.

I'm not bothering with deer season any more. Too much ofca hassle to process them with my back getting worse. Now just watching the doe and youngins on the property. There's a buck that comes around but never see him. Only the treats he leaves in the yard.
If I see a bear in the area I might go after it with a ML though.

Headed up north tomorrow after work and staying near the property with a bunch of my hunting buddies to get an early start on opening day of gun season. A few of them already punched some tags during bow season, so hopefully there's some good activity this weekend.

I’m going out and I have decided I’m so pissed off at all the corona virus BS and the demonrats wanting to give my money away I just want some meat in the freezer. I also have the coveted 9P doe tag so I think I’ll take about anything except a baby baby. I see tons of doe out that way so the population isn’t hurting and probably need a little thinning anyway to get some size on them. Hunting last season in two weekends I saw 8-9 doe in the two days I hunted. I’m guessing two were repeats since it was same size and area. I’m guessing the two doe my parents are seeing are the two I’ve been seeing for the last few years. Same area we always see them. My parents think they are small because they are used to seeing city deer that are monsters. I saw the one in very thick brush so I’ll have to make the decision when I see them to pull the trigger or not. It will also be my first deer ever so that factors into it. Just started hunting and have only hunted a few seasons.
for size reference the body is about the size of a Great Dane dog just not as tall. I’d say it’s about a 100 lbs doe. So after some research that doesn’t seem small. Maybe I’m wrong.

Saw a small 8 and two doe this morning up on the ridge neither worth dragging out of there. In for food and my son and I will be going to private land in 3J. For southern Sullivan it was a quiet morning very few shots heard
