town drops just mulch and sand salt mix, no soil unfortunately.
That little bit is hard to find cheap. Even by me it’s $50-$60 for delivery alone and a yard of good topsoil is $30 so I’m not surprised there. Think of what goes into getting you your yard of soil?Pissed off now, had a 3cu/yd delivery of some nice soil, proper Ph and fertilizer, got a call an hr after my delivery time, that there too busy this year to travel the 12mi (its the next town over from me) to drop a 1/2 dump full. Now i need to find another source. soes anyone have any ideas in chenango county for good topsoil, burells wants 4x as much for delivery as the soil itself, then i still need to balance and fertilize. Really only need 1cu/yd for raised bed at this point and can do bags for containers, but the clocks ticking... Unfortunatly I don't have a trailer to even haul small amounts from the various pits around me, so need someone that delivers.
My town does nothing.town drops just mulch and sand salt mix, no soil unfortunately.
I received the seeds today, thanks and thanks for the Shishito seeds too!! I Always wanted to grow some of these, but I always ended up maxing my space out with hot pepper plants. I’ll definitely be sowing some of these this year !Your a bit north of me. PM me a mailing address and I’ll send you the remainder of the seed package if you want. Direct sow instructions attached.

Powdery mildew. Heat, humidity, and wet cause it. Damn squash and cycles are super prone to it.Planted more this weekend. Then my buddy dropped off for more tomato plants and peppers. My garden is already twice as big as I wanted LOL. And I can’t believe the silver is starting on squash leaves already. I thought that only happened when there was a lack of ventilation from planting too closely.

I use Espoma organic Holly-Tone or Berry-Tone with very good results on my blueberry plants. In my experience Most of the self pollinating blueberry plants do remarkably better with an additional plant for far superior pollination.I just ordered another honey berry and two more pink lemonade blueberry bushes. Imagine my disappointment when the “self-fertile” pink lemonade blueberry bush I have was loaded with flowers only to show almost zero blueberries forming. I know if you have more than one the fruiting is better, but we’re talking less than one percent I think here. That’s not right.
As for the honey berry I’m hoping I got the right one. I have two now that don’t cross pollinate and I get tons of blooms, but like 1-2 berries so I ordered one that cross pollinates with all other varieties and I’m just hoping the bloom time is correct. I ordered the two I have now years ago from an online vendor and I ordered two that cross pollinated and the one they were out of stock of and there’s that little clause that they can substitute for like varieties. Oh ok well they wouldn’t be dumb enough to sun me out one that doesn’t cross pollinate so I never checked and they were that dumb.
I use holly tone and the epsoma sulfur on my blue berries. Great growth.I use Espoma organic Holly-Tone or Berry-Tone with very good results on my blueberry plants. I caught this today and the day isn’t even over.Just set the trap 30 minutes ago and now I have to go release the groundhog. I caught him. There’s one more that has to go as well.
It would be a full time job if I tried to live trap all the damned rabbits that I have out back this year. !I caught this today and the day isn’t even over.
It’s normally not a huge problem for me, but this year there is a lot of rabbits and the damn ground hogs had babies so they are coming in my yard. I’ll get them gone and be done with it.It would be a full time job if I tried to live trap all the damned rabbits that I have out back this year. !
Three yards is a lot of boxes. Have fun.I got three yards of garden mix delivered this afternoon for the new boxes that I built .

wife has been on a tear of woodchuck trappingI removed the shallots and I’ll eat the greens. Apparently for the bulbs you should plant them in the fall. I reworked the soil and planted onion seeds, more carrots, peas, and beans. A wood Chuck or something dig up most of my carrot seeds.
To date I have trapped 3 wood chicks and 4 rabbits. Every day or so I catch something. It’s amazing the rabbits are going in the trap without any food. They are just using the slight depression the wood chicks have dug under the fence to come though and right into the trap. I’ve released them all safely to a park. I’m not interested in killing them.
Don’t discount those pesky tree rats. I caught two grays trying to dig up my beets. I already have chicken wire fencing around the big box and they’re dropping in over the top of it like paratroopers, so I put some bird netting over the top . Seems to be working so far. There are so many rabbits, chucks and gray squirrels around this year that I’m going to have a frigging smorgasbord come the fall killing season !I’m up to 3 rabbits and 4 or 5 wood chucks in a week. Something yesterday dig in my carrots and dig up the entire side of one of my large potato plants. Also not the top off the other potato plant again or broke it. I hate these animals.
ove noticed a ton of varmint this year too. It’s insane.Don’t discount those pesky tree rats. I caught two grays trying to dig up my beets. I’ll eat everyone of those bastards smothered in the veggies that they’ve been trying to eat all summer.
By the way. How are those apple trees coming along this year?I’ve n

Thanks for the heads up on the squirrels, but I’m all to aware of them. Honestly since cutting down the large maple tree I see wat less of them and this hole was way too big to be a squirrel. It was almost dinner plate sized, but the squirrels work on my gardens pretty good so they always piss me off.
Im just getting back into seasonal veggies flap I’m just farting around figuring out what works and what doesn’t for some new areas.
