If you’re Jonesing for a nice juicy tomato samitch you can ripen a few green tomatoes in a paper bag . You can even ripen them faster if you add a ripening banana to the bag.
I’m good for now until the end of the season. I have like 50-60 new tomatoes coming. Yikes.
Sorry to hear this man. Best of luck and there’s a few things you can replant now or on a few weeks, but I’m sure you know that.And just like that my garden is trashed. I went from having to water on a regular to almost every day to torrential down pours on and off for the last 10-11 days. Top that off with last night’s heavy rain storm and this evening’s storm the plants that were struggling are now pretty much drowned. I’ll pick what I can as soon as the rain lets up but everything else is toast .

Same here. Only 5 ripe tomatoes so far but lots of green ones. Cherry size did pretty good. I think I picked around 300 from 5 plants but the plants are dying now.
Probably too hot for broccoli. My peppers did great and been picking them for months now. Cherry tomatoes seem to ripen even during the heat of the summer. You won’t always have all successes. Tis life.
To start-a couple apple and pear trees, blueberries, raspberries and a grape vine.
Sounds like fun. Just make sure you plant enough apples and peaches to share with the squirrels because they will go after them hard if they are in your area. Deer eat the new shoots so fence them or guard them.
Time release sulfur as well. Coffee grounds are very high in nitrogen and can burn roots badly. Also now is not the time to add a ton of nitrogen to get the plant growing like crazy. Epsoma’s has a sulfur product for blueberries and hydrangeas that I have used with success. The also have hollytone for acid loving plants that is nutrient based. Hollytone will got get you down to a 5 ph alone though.
Coffee grounds are no longer acidic once brewed. Their acidity is very near neutral after brewing. I use what @Saltwater60 suggested on my four blueberry bushes and then bank them with peat moss for the winter with excellent results.
Use removable fence posts and 6’ snow fencing for the first few winters.In hard winters the Rabbits and deer will girdle the young trees and bushes by eating the bark. If that happens you can kiss all that you’ve worked hard to plant good bye.
Barn cats do a pretty good job keeping the rabbits and squirrels away. Our livestock dogs deter the deer to a point. I’ll keep a watch for deer damage.
They will chew the new branches in spring or eat whatever during a bad winter.
The squirrels will chew mine as well. I hate squirrels. They also chew my branches off to drop the fruit to the ground on the thin branches they can’t walk on.
I hate the tree rats too. Fortunately for me where I am I can pop the little bastards with my pellet pistol or rifle.
I can’t do that but if I continue to have issue s conibears and snares will be set in strategic locations. I don’t care anymore.
I don’t grow cover crops basically because all my vegetables and herbs are grown in raised bed boxes. I do however till everything under at the end of the growing season to put nutrients back into the soil. Excluding the roots of course.Anyone use a cover crop at home?

I’m making some moves over the next few weeks and making some adjustments. I removed the one honey berry bush since it looked about dead and I removed the other very large one since they don’t cross pollinate and I don’t remember what the bush is anymore. I freed up a lot of space getting rid of these two. I feel a bit bad, but I don’t want to spend more time and money if I don’t know what I will get out of it.
