The cigarette issue that you’re referring to was about the tax revenue and the lack there of when buying and shipping cigarettes into NYS.
I've heard from a reliable source that Walmart, at least, has been experiencing a lot of delays trying to run the ammo background checks. To the point where FUDDs who are trying to get their hunting ammo are complaining that it is walmart delaying the checks because they don't want to sell ammo, when it is really the NYSP system that is down.
Personally, I will never buy ammo in NY again until this infringement is ended (bonus points if heil hochul's term is ended also). don't need an interstate to get from PA to NY.
Reloading isn't especially difficult, but it is time consuming and requires a degree of professionalism: I suggest an in-expensive single stage Press and basic set up to start with; it'll always do what you need it to do, and if you decide to drop the idea then it's an easy sell or can be packed away for a rainy day. The Multi-stage presses are great once set up and tuned, however that's a bit arduous, especially for the beginner.
Check the Equipment Exchange/Classifieds on Gun Boards as there's always some either "getting out" or upgrading.
Don't get too wrapped up in Powders (which one gives the very best results, latest, greatest's, does everything) just pick a caliber, and see what's available at your local Shop, same with primers, and bullets as done right they're going to shoot well enough to practice with.

Mass just enacted something for ammo and components. Heard people bitching from that state because a lot of places won't even ship bullets. So ya I am sure NY will one up it and require background checks for components. I guess having molds to cast my own bullets will pay off...SMH.

They themselves as rulers, have decided with a multitude of databases and your name is there, they people are not worthy of having ammo.
There is a paper trail being created now and these need collection along with all appeals have to be done, them also tracked and recorded and we may get to the bottom of it.

Just left Runnings in Rome. I bought some LP primers, transaction was no different than buying a snickers candy bar. A fellow comes asking about buying ammo and the clerk said the system was down for "up to a week". Not sure if thats just the guy being lazy or if the system is really down. If so, working as designed....

As soon as one realizes, state gun control has to be ended (preempted everywhere) and has to come only from the Federal gov, we end up with uniform regulations same for every US citizen. Existence of the 2A in the bill of rights calls for the inverse application of the 10A, "not a states right" to arrive at equal protection of the law. This would pull the plug on all infringements and end all the Federal courts work in delaying the inevitable. They ended Missouri's 2nd Amendment Protection Act with this logic by a federal court "correctly" and no one sees it for what it was, correctly proving what I just said. It's absurd to think with modern communications and interstate travel to have some states gun free zones and others, fully 2A friendly.

I have little faith this goes away fully. I expect them to allow background checks but be able to ask for less and there will be a timeframe listed or something like that.
I suspect all the delays for long periods of time are the fact that they are understaffed or have technical issues. I’m sure they are told you can’t get it done just delay it. This is t right it’s just my thoughts on why. Also who are these people doing these checks? Are they vetted? This opens us up to more risk of our information get leaked or our homes getting broken into to steal our guns.

As it is, I wouldn't feel comfortable giving all my information to some dude behind the counter, especially verbally. Someone could be there recording it. There are plenty of places that follow PCI compliance so far, they won't touch your bank/credit card physically.
It's really an invasion of privacy.

The thread is long so here is a repeat. SS number is mandatory for all checks. Lots of delays on ammo, more than proceeds. The system is glitchy. Street address, nationality, height, weight and occupation mandatory for all checks. Do you feel the noose yet?
As for crossing state lines with ammo. Currently, according to multiple officers, it is legal. If anyone cares toremember, the witch was meeting with five adjoining state govs shortly after this crap passed.

Every news cast that I hear is mentioning this is to create a gun registry ... They want to know exactly what guns you have . In the future we can foresee the make model and serial number for every box one buys. .. This day will come .. If a natural disaster or riot happens that system will be the first thing down in the state. Every act done in this state is done to disarm the average citizen A tax stamp on all ammo and make it a felony to have a box without the stamp. Ammo will be regulated as much as any narcotic 10 rounds / gun every 120 days ... There is no limit what the anti gun folks can dream up. .
