I was surprised when I didn’t see a TSA agent. The lady in Buffalo wanted me to take the gun out and show her my gun. I told her there was a safety flag in it and as soon as I put the key in the box she said that’s ok. She seemed scared to death. I arrived at my destination and I had to show my DL license to get my bag. I signed the form saying it was uploaded.Last time I flew it was out of a very small regional airport: early morning, first thing I do is tell the Ticket Agent "I need a Firearms Declaration" She takes our Bags and I figured they'd changed things around, so I handed them over....ten minutes later a TSA Agent is asking "Do you know you have a Firearm in your Luggage?" Yes, First thing I did was state that I had one and needed a Firearms Declaration...checked with the Agent, and she admitted to forgetting about it. TSA agent to me: "Well we'll let it go this time, but you have to declare you have a gun." ...OK
Yea, no shit, it wasn't MY fuck up. Being such a small Airport in my area. I knew at least one of the TSA guys and recognized another having been in the Gun Shop.
Come to think of it, the last few times I flew out of Syracuse they didn't call for SPD to check my Licenses...I think the powers that be got tired of fucking over Soldiers going back home and taking their handguns with them, having come to Ft. Drum not knowing about NY's draconian and discriminatory handgun laws.
On the return same just sign this and she asked about the ammo. I told her it was all in original boxes and a few boxes. She handed me the form to sign and zipped it back up. When I arrived in Buffalo nothing at all. I went over to get the bag and the office was closed. As soon as I saw that I said they are going to dump it on the carousel. Bag had a tag on it saying do t put it on the carousel and as soon as I got back to the carousel my bag was coming down it. I checked the case prior to leaving to make sure the gun was in there and it was. I wasn’t happy they did this because the bag was identified as having a gun in it if anyone was paying attention or knew what the tag was about.
