Something has to be done to hold elected officials personally responsible for lies they tell during a campaign. If you or anyone here lied on a resume and the company found out a day later or years later you would be fired. Representatives that lie to get votes only to sound good on "paper" should face swift and severe punishment if they support any bill that is contrary to the position they had when running for office. It should be a punishment designed to destroy their lives just as it is when someone attempts to rob a bank. Can you imagine if the punishment for attempted robbery of a bank was a $5 fine and a misdemeanor? I bet robbery attempts would go up.
The 2 party system has to go. The Republicans and Democrats won't even allow her to debate them. Underhandedness like that is something that doesn't sit well with me. She's on the ballet legally yet is being kept out of the debate. That has to stop. I would feel the same way if it were a Republican or Democrat that was kept out of a debate. It's un-Americana in my opinion.
I understand what you're saying about the ballot. But the ballot idea you're referring too isn't why I'm voting independent. I'm simply voting my conscious. Trump had a shot and I don't trust him now. Biden, I don't have to tell you about him lol.

I agree with you. Someone did mentioned that Regan did sign the Hughes Amendment. But I get it when those here say they feel it's a wasted vote. But change has to happen some way and some how and I just feel that if we just continue to vote for candidates from the Republican and Democratic pool, things won't change. I've voted Republican and Democrat. I don't hold to one party. I do my best to listen to their viewpoints, look at their record, and decide who the best candidate would be. I'm not trying to stir the pot by just voting Libertarian this time around. I just see that Trump didn't do what he said he would do and Biden is anti 2A and I can't in clear conscience vote for them.
Many first time politicians have lofty ideas until they get elected and hear from their constituents.
Because the smart (small l) libertarian candidates know they need to run as Republicans if they want to get anything done.
I can't support JJ in the election but believe that all candidates on the ballot in enough states to win the EC should also have the opportunity to be on the debate stage. A 3rd party candidate would likely stand out on some of the issues the 2 parties avoid. If the Libertarian party cleaned up their platform and candidate pool a bit, more people could support it.
This is where I get in arguments with my newly woke niece.
Specifically in regards to the exodus of NYC, you would assume that due to people leaving the area that they themselves would change their political views due to thier circumstances. What's more likely is they will maintain thier political views and vote the same regardless. They are more likely diehard Democrats and unlikely to change thier political opinions. They only way it works is if they move out of state, and most will not. It's a great idea, and one I wish would happen, but more than likely turns a red area purple than swapping from blue to red.
I volunteered in the local Libertarian chapter for many years before I decided to go to college as an adult. You were not welcome if you were anti-gun. So many misconceptions and false statements about Libertarians out there.... I guess you have to be wise enough to see through the hype.
