1 bucket has less than a week's worth of food, especially for multiple people. I like Mountain House, good balance of taste, quality and price.
Some of the cheaper brands don't include any meat.
I have some buckets and also some of the big #10 cans.

Just looking up sodium numbers on the Augason Farms pail, for everything except the banana chips, oatmeal and cream of weight, these are calories and sodium per serving:
Spanish Rice: 200 calories, 730mg sodium
Cheesy Broccoli: 250 cal, 640mg sodium
Fettuccine Alfredo: 350 cal, 670mg sodium
Buttermilk pancakes, 150 cal, 650mg sodium
Lowfat Moos Milk Alternative: 70 cal, 115mg sodium
Creamy potato soup: 220 cal, 630mg sodium
Hearty chicken vegetable: 200 cal, 590 mg sodium
The math works out to 2.865 mg of sodium per calorie, so eating 2000 calories per day that's a whopping 5729 mg sodium. The current American Heart Association guideline is 1,500 mg sodium/day, with a max of 2,300/day. So double that.
And that's before any nitrates etc that are in this kit.

In a survival situation that won't matter. Particularly if you will be more active and sweating a lot. The sodium thing is just something of a wives tale to begin with. Even the American Heart Association admitted that there isn't a scientific link between sodium intake and blood pressure if you don't already have a pre existing condition. Either way if you are getting into your food buckets you have bigger problems to worry about.

He gets his family and friends .. Find this fellow and one night the house he is in goes up in flames ... .. As he runs out of the house ... he is put down.. That is how things will be handled.
People still have to behave with decency and morals. People still need to network, trade, communicate. There are regular people out there trying to survive and get by doing the right thing. not everyone is threatening you.
Anyone that behaves like paranoid sociopaths will get wiped out pretty quickly once word gets around.
It will more or less go back to frontier justice system.

Personally, i have 3 to 4 years worth of food strategically placed within 3 of my homes. I also have cases upon cases of 50 year shelf life cans of water. I have water filtration systems that can purify any water, whether biological, parasitic, virus, or any other contaminates, in each home.
I have top of the line bug out bags for every family member, including pets.
Each bag can filter water exactly, if not better, than my homes. They can provide shelter, food, fire, warmth, gas masks, fishing, snaring, lighting, urban tools like bolt cutters, wrenches, keys, noaa radios, self defense as each bag has a henry ar7 break down rifle except the kids bags, and TONS more stuff.
In my homes, depending on which one i am at when shtf, i can bug in and thrive for a very long time. Back up generators, back up solar, green house gardens and future seeds, ways to cook under any circumstance, and every gadget for any circumstance, chainsaws, mini power banks, you name it.
Last but not least, i have a 26 acre retreat that is fully stocked as well as my homes. On the 26 i am secure, hidden, remote, and protected. There is a fresh water supply, TONS of wild game, fertile ground, a small cabin for shelter, and pre stocked with food for me and my immediate family, and a few close friends, to survive and rebuild as my last resort. My one "issue" is if and when, being able to get up to my retreat. We might have to fight our way up there, who knows. The hardest decision will be deciding WHEN to go.

Friend of mine who retired from Niagra-Mohawk built a house back in the 70's using all sorts of "Energy Saving" Grants (see Carter Administration) and he used Fiberglass Septic Tanks set on top of gravel in an insulated room of his Basement, had three or four of them and used them primarily as hot water storage (he had several ways to heat and circulate water throughout the House) I know this is off on a tangent, but the system was ingenious.
The cubes are inexpensive and available, but thought of the septic tanks for larger, more permanent applications, especially these new Plastic ones. (new of course)

Those of us who grew up during their lifetime should have learned a lot.
It depends on what the algorithm is looking for. I can see a number of scenarios where people classified as "hard core preppers" go to the top of the domestic terrorists list.

Lots of people are already opting out in a sense. They're not going to kill themselves, that would require being active and taking charge of their situation. What they are doing is nonstop drinking, watching tv, playing Vidya, etc. They've essentially checked out and waiting for the end.

We're getting low on supplies. I restocked before covid last year and have slowly dwindled them away as the lack of urgency of a recovering economy has set into me.

They have not a clue what could come I have a sister in another state and she lives in maybe a 900 sq ft apartment. Space is very limited . Money is an issue also. People lose their jobs .. Hours get cut back . My sisters daughter will be getting 3200 more / month from this child credit. I don't get that working full time after taxes..

We had a pretty lively discussion about it here last spring.
Basically a guy in NYC had a warehouse full of N95 masks. He didn't want to sell them for the price the feds wanted to buy them at.
So, like any good mafia, they sent some goons by to make him an offer he literally couldn't refuse.
Not sure if he ended up in jail, or they just "confiscated" his masks for "evidence".
