I see 4 o'clock as the opposite. Can't imagine driving with that poking into my back against the seat. I also want to keep it in front of me when in crowded areas. That looks uncomfortable as all hell. I always wear undershirts and I carry at 0400.
In a hybrid holster I don't notice it. Weapon retention is an advantage of apendix carry. At 4 however my Shield is invisible.I see 4 o'clock as the opposite. Can't imagine driving with that poking into my back against the seat. I also want to keep it in front of me when in crowded areas.
Are you sure?At 4 however my Shield is invisible.
YesAre you sure?
Ha yeah from the front you can't see itAre you sure?
Careful there, chief. That pic is approaching Bar material
What holster are you using? I'm about the same amount of over weight as you and am throwing around the idea of appendix carry.
Canted points the barrel away from you.Um..... Wouldn't 1:30 canted have the gun pointed directly at the junk? At 4:00 if I screw up I likely shoot myself in the ass.
at 1:30 and I screw up I emasculate myself at best or at worst I quickly die from massive blood loss.
Understandable concern, of course. Training and consistent technique will have the risk approach zero. It is part of the compromise to get the best concealed carry position - extremely fast draw, superb concealment and retention, visually verifiable, ambidexterous, comfortable, works while driving. Generally it even passes the hug test.Um..... Wouldn't 1:30 canted have the gun pointed directly at the junk? At 4:00 if I screw up I likely shoot myself in the ass.

Oh. That's just your neighbor's knee caps then.Canted points the barrel away from you.
Go eat something. I'm not understanding you lately.Oh. That's just your neighbor's knee caps then.
I just ate a delicious homemade frittata that has left me so full I don't think I'll want breakfast.Go eat something. I'm not understanding you lately.
Also note that carry at 4 o'clock makes it more difficult to see the handgun into the holster (to keep trigger clear).I don't understand this whole you might shoot your artery or package off argument while carrying appendix. Carrying 4 o'clock, you might shoot the concrete below you and ricochet into your package or you might shoot your neighbor next to you.
It's an internet myth that hardly ever happens if it even happened once or twice at all in the whole history of carrying appendix.
If you use a proper, quality holster and keep your trigger clear, it'll never happen as evidence of it not happening in the real world.
That's a stretch and you know it. You know damn well there is a massive difference in probability of harm from a gun pointed directly at something vs an indirect ricochet. If the cant is away from the sensitive bits than this argument is moot anyway.I don't understand this whole you might shoot your artery or package off argument while carrying appendix. This is true, its all pros and cons. Also note that carry at 4 o'clock makes it more difficult to see the handgun into the holster (to keep trigger clear).
It can't be a stretch if either method of carry has almost zero instances of that happening. That's my point. It never happens. That's a stretch and you know it. I use a one clip holster. If I have to disarm, the whole holster and gun comes out in one shot. When putting it back on, the whole holster and gun comes back on in one shot.
The only time I draw and reholster is when practicing.
