I don’t like anyone, my main goal was to avoid having to moderate a discussion by providing information. There is an ignore button for a reason. Instead of badgering someone I suggest the ignore button is preferable to being moderated.

I wonder who makes that... wait omg its Geissele... to bad they didn't use it with their Airborn charging handle.... omg wait just a second... thats exactly what the army 75th rangers and other spec ops groups are using have have been since 2018

Charging handles are a personal choice, you can spend 20-120 dollars on them. If you go cheap make sure they at least meet the military specifications (available on the web). I have pretty much used every type of charging handle on the market. i only put the fancy parts on if I am building a gun for someone who has a hard time unlocking it because of things like their finger Grasping strength.
So let him have his opinion. You made your opinion clear. Smoke a joint and relax.
I don't disagree with this, there is nothing wrong with a correct spec'd GI charging handle (other than the ergonomics which better charging handles have addressed)
But to try and tell someone that getting a quality made charging handle is going to cause their gun to malfunction and that they should only use milspec is laughable at best

Just because SOCOM units are using a product doesn’t mean there is a Milspec standard issued for it. They are typically allowed to buy commercial off the (COT) shelf stuff for everything. But if they are using it you can bet it either meets or exceed any milspec standard put out.
There are charging handles that look like a standard mil. spec. part. However they are noticeably lighter in weight and have odd finish that starts to come off as soon as you start using them. I would stay away from those. This is what I was referring to.
I personally know Bill Geissele going back before he started his business. We shot matches together and I was around when he was testing his triggers. I still use two of his triggers from the first batch he made. I also use his scope mounts and handguard rails. He makes good quality products. This is not the point. Making what is simple into what's more complex without compleling reason, this is what I was talking about. From my experience sooner or later this can cause cometibility or other problems.

With respect I find the these newer charging handles like some of the ones previously listed to have greater utility than just as an aid to thise with reduced finger strength, although this is an additional benefit I hadn't considered.
With a standard handle the best way to operate it is to use the firing hand in an overhand, two fingered pinch, this is cumbersome and removing the firing hand from the grip is not desirable. While it is possible to rack a standard charge handle one handed with the offhand it's kind of fiddly, not much to grab and if you palm it its easy to slip off. Then there is the issue of the latch pin taking all the force.
I really do think the improved handles are a very sound addition to any AR, particularly one that is operated in a dynamic fashion such as self defense, or in training for such and any type of dynamic competition such as 3 or 2 gun in which there is a lot of running n' gunning. For static shooting on the range I admit they are largely superfluous.

I will says this. I was one of those guys who thought one of these high speed, low drag charging handles were necessary. I mean, wouldn’t it be great to have a better grip on the charging handle? Of course. I had one on my AR. In 2011 when I joined the National Guard, I brought my charging handle with me to drill and put it on my issued M4. That was until I had to keep it slung on me at all times.
It was great when wearing my kit but around the barracks, that thing was sticking me in the chest. I took it off after that and went back to the regular issued one. Then when I got home, I purchased a regular one from Brownells.

Neither of the two I have poke me in the chest, they are both fairly low profile pieces which is why I chose them over other models.
I hate the standard charging handle in comparison.
I can understand your point. For the time being, I can still charge mine without issue with my off hand. There may come a day when I can’t. But that is what they make side chargers for.

That's the whole point of it, these handles remove any need for side charging, which nullifies a major advantage of the platform- being well sealed against the ingress of mud and dirt.
When I am old enough to need to be using a side charger because my hands don’t work like they should, I doubt I will be worried about mud and dirt.

Thats a difference of 0.083" or 2.1082mm
As for the BCM.. (their website measurement)
The large latch extends past the main body of the charging handle by approximately 1.14"
The medium latch extends past the main body of the charging handle by approximately .91"
The GI latch extends past the main body of the charging handle by approximately .85".
So the large handle is about .29" or 7.36mm larger than the GI handle
And the medium is about 0.06" or 1.524mm

Sling it out in front of you and walk around with it all day. If the charging handle digs into chest, your charging handle is too big no matter how many millimeters it is on paper.
Man look at the massive size difference I bet after 2 maybe even 3 min it would be agonizing

If it digs into your chest, then it’s no good. If it doesn’t, then it’s good to go. Period. There are many that do and many that do not.
