Aside from the bolt situation that is getting better but still might not be up to the rigors of army duty
the issue is that the shoulder angle is too much for being accepted.
There has never been a case when a case with that type of angle on the shoulder has made it even
to the list of candidates. 28degrees is effectively like 30 degrees and like 35 and 40 degree shoulder
angles is a big no no.
Also the taper of the round itself should be consider for reliable feeding in any sort of rifles and
weather conditions including dust, mud and machine gun belts.
The tests are pretty rigorous and cartriges like grendel, 6mmBR, 6.4 creed, 6x47 lapua, etc... will not make it.

7.5x55 Swiss has a pretty steep shoulder an minimal taper doesn't it?
What case would offer these things while balancing size and weight and offers an ample neck to hang on to the long 6mm?

That is a cartridge that has seen very little action from a country that is pretty independent in terms of standards.
Still is a 27 degree shoulder and reasonable taper from .45 to .5" at the base.
It can work but less than ideal according to major army modern standards whether it is nato or eastern countries.
All service firearms were retrofitted to 308 that retired this one. Nothing wrong with the swiss but just saying
we are talking about major armies here.

The latest most powerful and modern cartridges have specific dimensions like the 338 lapua or 338 norma magnum.
Look at the dimensions that seem like extrapolations from successful cartridges obviously oversized and strengthened
but follow the directives we are talking about for replacing even larger calibers like the 50 BMG.

Those dimensions and design are the result of careful thought and testing for accuracy, efficciency and reliability.

One of the huge sellings factors of the norma magnum is the efficiency and the easy it feeds in firearms including
some bad ass machine guns. The issue is that with the following the LM has from lapua and being in service in
bolt action by snipers is going to be a hard one for General dynamics and the army. After all the lapua manung
is a superb round too.

Did anyone see the Mosque video? If you have, you'll notice he used regular 62 gr green tipped FMJ. There were numerous one shot stops with it where the person dropped and had his or lights put out.

This is the first time we actually see what 5.56 FMJ does in action on the human body numerous times with multiple examples of it working. All this chasing other calibers that gives a marginal increase in diameter and weight is a waste of time and money.

No one in that mosque was relieved that he didn't use a .300 BO, 6.8 SPC, .308, 6.5 Grendel, or some fancy hollow point in .223.

5.56 FMJ just works. To go with another caliber because some internet commando or some guy on YouTube who does gel tests or some person who knows a soldier from Vietnam or Iraq that said that the 5.56 has no stopping power or some police department chief that adopted the latest Hornandy Tap or Gold Dot round because he read it about it somewhere in a magazine or forum is just slipping into the myths that everyone puts out there.

This is real world stuff. No one can argue the 5.56 mm effectiveness with just plain old ball isn't a reliable stopper after watching that video.

I think you are implying that at larger distances it wouldn't work. Within 200 yards, both rounds are supersonic creating wounds bigger than around itself. It's at a distance that the .308 wins. Most combat engagements are within 200 yards or less. For longer distances, designated Marksman, snipers, and crew-served weapons field the .308/ 7.62.

A larger caliber like the .308 for 200 yards and less is actually a disadvantage due to weight and capacity.

With an in between caliber like the 6.8 SPC, the marginal increase in diameter isn't going to make a difference.

So roughly about .263 of an ounce more in weight along with .045 of a inch bigger in circumference is when magic starts to happen in flesh and makes the difference whether it's lights out to unconsciousness or death.

Thanks. I will forward this to those who have been killed with one or two shots of a .223. May they rise in peace since they were unjustly killed when they weren't supposed to be.
