That turd is what inspired me to want to build a bolt-action hunting pistol. (I figured I could put together a better one than Remington).
This discussion does add an Encore with a pistol brace into the running for my consideration though. Swapping barrels and paying less are very attractive features. Also, I honestly don't practice running the bolt on the bolt-action I already have, so it's not much of a speed advantage. With either one, if I need a follow-up shot, I'm probably not getting it before the animal is out of sight.
Its funny me and a buddy were just talking about encores and similar and we realized we don't know if anyone makes braces for them and if not why?

Come to think of it, I've never seen any kind of brace for Encore/Contender pistols, and I've looked at a LOT of custom stuff for those guns.

I only did a brief search after reading this, but there's at least one option. It changes the grip to one that's got a hole in the back and is threaded to accept an AR buffer tube. From there you'd be able to use any AR pistol brace or buttstock if you're inclined to throw a 16"+ barrel on it.

Looks like there are also replacement grips that put a picatinny rail section on the butt so you can install folding stocks.

I was pretty excited about the Pork Sword, but FrankenCub and repete introducing the Thompsons into the discussion really have me leaning that way. Awesome versatility (.22lr to .45-70; handgun to rifle). Way cheaper. They've got the reputation for crazy good accuracy and nice triggers. Huge upsides versus the only downside being a marginally slower second shot compared with a bolt action.
Oh I deff wouldn't say don't go with either of those (not for me personally) but really hard to argue against one for hunting (especially deer)

As a long time pistol hunter my preferred option is the Encore, because the upsides already posted. They are quite easy to get use to reloads for follow up shots but if you do your part you won't need a second shot. I've taken deer with .308, .300 Whisper, 209x.50 mag ML, and a couple other oddball caliber barrels that I had early on. There are so many high quality accessories for them such as exotic furniture to any caliber barrel you could think of.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy with a bolt pistol but it needs to be left hand bolt for hunting.
Another thing I much prefer the Encore/Contender over a bolt or rotating breech is a lower barrel center. Bolt guns are all above your hand a lot compared to the TC guns which translates into some crazy muzzle flip with heavier calibers. Not so noticeable with the TCs. Even my 209x.50 pushing 100g wasn't bad. That would hurt with a high barrel lol.
My cousin had a IMI Lone Eagle, might have been 30-06. You wanted to have a damn good hold on that thing.

Looks like back in August (the 3rd) the company Q received a cease and desist letter from the ATF on the sales of their "Honey Badger" pistols (also named was their sugar weasel and fix pistols) The ATF arbitrarily reclassified them as SBR fun the previous "pistol" clarification
