Hi I'm back. The new direction of this thread has piqued my interest. You've aroused my curiosity.

I'm at work and can't dedicate all of my attention to this so I'm already running out of double entendres unfortunately.

The OP liked most of the posts in the thread, and even added to the unnecessary comments. It doesn't look like he had an issue with anything except not selling his gun. ;)

For what ist worth Bullet Guy, I've made the almost hour drive to visit your store, recommended it to others, and even spent some money there because of your posts here. Don't let the nonsense get you down.

That Gold Cup could have had a $300 price tag and been NIB and you still would have gotten bs posts, offers for $150 and free shipping, and a trade offer for a Mosin stock. Its our culture, don't hate!

Some of the useless banter does clutter up the sale threads at times. I look at it like this, when you go to a LGS do you just look through the dirty glass or strain your eyes to see what that is on the rack? Hell no, let me see that there will ya?
It's the internet version of fondling before buying.

Me too and if I'm interested in buying something, I go to the classifieds.

The argument here seems to be that useless chatter helps the OP by keeping his thread bumped up.

It'll always be bumped up to someone who hasn't read it. That's how xenforo works.

It's a place for PEOPLE to buy and sell firearms and accessories. Not businesses. I already covered this, a business is obviously welcome to sell but this place isn't designed to accommodate BUSINESSES it's designed to accommodate enthusiasts. People. Hobbyists. People that like to talk about guns. It's obviously a clubhouse, the whole thing, that's the POINT. This isn't armslist. This isn't gunbroker. This isn't your LGS. This is a discussion forum for enthusiasts to talk about guns that happens to have a little spot for guys to buy, sell, and trade things. It's NOT and ecommerce store.

This place is the equivalent of going to your buddies house and working on his car with him, and going, shit man you've got that in the corner can i give you a few bucks for it? Or, hey man while you're here any chance you want to buy this? It isn't amazon. It's a casual laid back environment where you have the ability to sell things.

That's not the argument at all. It's just a minor point in a much bigger argument about the type of place this is supposed to be. When I got here from nyf the whole mantra was "Less rules! Less strict! More laid back!"

Seems like not everyone subscribed to that.

If the classifieds section wasn't designed for members here to sell stuff then what was it designed for?

What was the clubhouse designed for?

Sections were created for a reason. Your argument makes no sense.

What do less rules have to do with having common courtesy in not hijacking someone's thread?

It makes complete sense you're just being intentionally naive. It's a place to buy and sell things not a place for "business".

If you're confused by the difference then maybe try adding "business" to difference adjectives and seeing how they change? Casual vs business casual, lunch vs business lunch, etc? There is a level of formality (I.E. RULES) associated with business that isn't necessary here. This is a clubhouse. It's a hang out. It's not a firearms auction, it's not a storefront, it's not an ecommerce store (how many times can I say this in this thread? Someone keep count pls), it's not armslist. It shouldn't try to be.

Where did I ever say people should be able to hijack a thread? I said it was stupid to turn off discussion in a for sale thread when that discussion will likely be beneficial to the buyer and is in no way detracting from the sale. Try again. :banghead:

This is exactly as it should be. A question that can serve as knowledge to other potential buyers should be posted publicly. If it's a question that applies only to the person asking it, then it should be done in PM. Anything that's not directly related to helping along the sale shouldn't be posted there. We would prefer if people didn't posts things like "Nice gun, wish I could afford it !", and that sort of thing.

On top of that, it's also not helping the forum when people are having conversations in marketplace threads that could stand to be firearms related discussion in our real firearms related sections. Those discussions should be put in appropriate sections to build us up as an active firearm related forum.

Along with everything else, we've tried to be pretty lax on the rules here, but it is a bit of a problem when sellers threads are getting clogged up with junk posts. That said, with only three staff members we can't follow everything, so everyone should please feel free to report threads that need cleaning up.

I agree. Now what qualifies as relevant? Obviously "wow shiny" doesn't, how about "I've got this same model, runs great glws" does that count? Others here seem to think not, I think it does, it's an unsolicited confirmation of the reliability of the item in question right?

Which really brings us right back to where we started.
