I agree. Now what qualifies as relevant? Obviously "wow shiny" doesn't, how about "I've got this same model, runs great glws" does that count? Others here seem to think not, I think it does, it's an unsolicited confirmation of the reliability of the item in question right?

Which really brings us right back to where we started.

I would say no; how someone else's firearm performs isn't directly relevant. If a person wanted to talk about a firearm model in general then that should be done in relevant firearm sections.

As a general guide for what should be posted in a marketplace thread:
Statements such as "PM sent" are good. That can be useful for establishing a timeline for a seller, especially in instances where two or more users express interest in buying.
Questions that might be relevant to all potential buyers.
And that about it.

Then you get some guy whining that he said he PMd first when someone else didn't post and just sent a PM. Let's not get ridiculous here. There's basically no discussion going on in ANY thread that can possibly hurt a sale and anything that isn't hurting a sale is completely harmless and pointless to restrict.

None of what I've posted has anything to do with me. I've been on and moderated enough forums to be able to provide actual insight into the issue whereas you've done nothing even close to the same. So an unbiased third party experience with a weapon is irrelevant to a buyer? Every review is a third party using one particular item and isn't directly relevant to the exact item in question. How could someone saying something positive about an item for sale possibly hurt the sale?

Put simply, there is the whole rest of the forum to chatter and post whatever ya like. Marketplace threads should not be discussion threads. It's a user trying to sell a thing and potential buyers shouldn't need to hunt though any number of irrelevant posts to find the sales status , price changes, etc , posted by the seller.

We always intended to bring on other staff eventually for specific section moderating, and someone cleaning up the classifieds section would be a good start. We've been waiting for the site to grow however before addressing any need for additional staff.

I just scrolled through the entire first page of the classifieds and there is only ONE thread over 1 page long. It's on its second page. Again, I say this is a non issue, but you're in charge boss. I'm just doing my part and contributing!

Fact I found it quite annoying at the old place how heavily moderated the classifieds Forum was. The only thing I'm against is people saying things like I could buy this cheaper at ABC location.

Well, that's why we're not really going around deleting anything without being asked to do so. It's not so much about enforcement/moderation as it is me simply answering the question here that was asked of how we would prefer people operate.

Also, yes, of course interfering with a sale with something like that would actually be considered against the rules.

There is pro and con to everything. I like the current format. One thing you over look is this people pick up on advice and statements from others.
This is a community forum.. Not gun broker. I buy something's here but since safe act I don't buy anything in ny. I am not saying if I see some parts or a gun I really want and its a deal I can't pass up. Well.... Don't expect gunbroker. Also the good comments push your sale. If you have garbage up for sale expect garbage comments.

For people trolling you, well you must think we are sheep and don't see comments to bust balls. Though I have yet to see one in the classified area.

I guess you misunderstood my posts. I'm not being defensive, I don't even post in the classifieds lol. This has nothing to do with me personally, I've just seen forums go to shit because of little stupid things like this. You start restricting what people can and can't do and they're going to move on to something new.

It's a pointless rule, kind of like a feature ban on a rifle. The features aren't hurting anything or anyone, so what are you worried about?
