Skoufis won because the GOP sat around and did nothing while the Democrats enrolled people in the party. What used to be a GOP majority district turned Democrat by like 13-15K.
No one is kicking in your front door to take your rifle. To do so would be a public relations disaster and would draw unwanted attention and additional legal challenges from Pro-2nd Amendment organizations that actually care, unlike the NRA and NYSRPA.
Here's what I believe we will get:
* Red Flag laws
* Ammo purchase card/background check for ammo purchases similar to what they have in Ct. and Mass.
* Actual enforcement by Revenuers (NYSP) of the permit registration requirement
* Expanded waiting periods for all firearms purchases
* Semi-Automatic long gun registration
* Microstamping
Social media law will die on the vine because leftists don't want to open the door to others seeing what THEY post.
Thank NYS Fudds for all this. If they cared about ALL firearms owners and not just those who shoot deer, waterfowl, and the clay shooting sports we wouldn't be in this mess to begin with.
Maybe the Tresmond Law Firm will come to our rescue seeing they've been "pitching their wares" on WYSL and at GOA NY meetings in the Rochester suburb of Henrietta as of late. (LOL).
The DEMS have run the table because the NYSGOP is a dumpster fire of incompetence thanks to Ed Cox. Better believe we're going to get greased and there will be absolutely NOTHING that can stop them.

I do believe we're going to see ammunition restrictions in the form of a buyer's card, maybe with the calibers you can buy listed. [ Buying a new caliber ? What gun did you buy and from whom ? Prove it. ] That will give them a list of most of what you own, if not at least a good idea of what you own. I think the number of rounds you buy will be regulated and tracked as well. [ Mr Jones bought 3400 rounds of ammo last month....I wonder what he's doing with all that. Let's send a couple boys over to politely ask him.....] Microstamping is a possibility, even though it will never actually work. Remember COBIS ? The intention isn't really to put an identifying mark on the primer, as much as it is to limit the guns ELIGABLE TO BE SOLD in the State. Also expect some new tax on ammo to offset all the medical costs associated with guns. You know, it's the children they're concerned about.

For me it comes down to money. Buying a few $60 - $130 lowers is much more doable than buying the $1500 - $2500 guns I'd eventually like them to become.
"Red flag" laws are a given. Teachers, doctors, grocery store employees, garbagemen, postal workers, EVERYONE will be able to call some hotline and say that you are nuts and the NYSP will come "ask you a few questions".... another 'fear of being reported' scheme to make gun ownership and use less appealing.
Don't be too surprised to see the NYSP hanging around your gun club, either. Especially the cars that have license plate readers on them..... they'll create their own list of people to watch.

Go after us for what? Legally owned property? Just because we are gun owners he's going to send cops after us? No way that doesn't start some serious problems both legally as well as on the ground. I also don't see Troopers liking Cuomo's move against them. I think that will cause more dissension and maybe some silent resistance if nothing else.

While I will listen to the show from time to time, I will say that I do hold too much as to what Bauerle has to say most of the times. He is a bit fried. He thinks he is more important than he really is. He claims to personally know this guy and that guy and this other really important guy. I can say on one occasion, he stated that he knew "this" guy really, really well; just so happens that I really do know this guy, when I asked him about Bauerle, he said besides knowing he is on the radio, he never heard of him, never met him.
He lives in his own little world.
As for the NYSP thing, I do not know one way or another, but I put nothing past him. I know a few Troopers and they claim they know nothing.

My guess, if there is any validity to what this dude is saying, is that the "door to door" is about permit holders who fail to re-certify.
There is absolutely no legal reason to be going door to door of lawful gun owners. At minimum it's harassment. Gonna be a lot of lawsuits. It just might be possible Cuomo will get in WAY over his head with all this.

I have no problem of buying complete guns if I had the cash, but the Left is gaining more and more control and influence whether any of us like to admit it or not. This AWB craze is gaining traction. Just look at the new proposed legislation....banning 80% lowers and parts kits. You buy a rifle, it has a paper trail via serial numbers. You buy stripped lowers, same. Let's look forward in the future to even more Leftist control. You think for a minute they wont force mandatory buy backs or turn ins? Maybe they wont go house to house, yet, but they'll find a way to connect NICS purchases to driver's licenses and start locking people up that refuse to turn in their MSRs after getting pulled over.
I used to have faith that our Constitution actually meant something to more than Conservatives. The Leftists will do everything in their power to strip it down to what they feel we need.
That's why I said 'undocumented" lowers....80%ers. While you're at it, buy a few parts kits. They're cheap too. If not, piecemeal the parts kits together.
Why continue buying something that's most likely going to be banned because it has a serial number. No way they'll let a grandfather clause in the text.
