Custom knife shopping

So with the recent knife talk ive been looking at tons of knives. Was debating between a $50 beater, or a nice custom $200 edc.. right now im really liking these. The Lucky 13 is my leading choice right now. Resized_803058f7bda718ff3abfc057403ed767.jpg

In high school I made a few knives for projects in Metal shop. I am not sure where they went. Probably in some storage unit my mother has. They were made out of power hacksaw blades. I had to use an arc welder to punch holes in the shank to mount the handle which I made in wood shop. Then I took it one step further and made a sand cast of them and poured aluminum handles so they would never come off the shank.

There are a few custom knives I would like to get but, the gun budget gets in the way. I just ordered 2000 bullets ( Nosler Custom Competition) which would have been more then enough to get a nice Damascus bladed knife.

I have a serious knife addiction. Sinse finding Bark River knives I have bought them pretty exclusively.

However, the other day while at Walmart, I had the urge to buy these cheapo Mossy Oak brand, half leather stacked knives for $19.99. I like beaters just as much as quality knives sometimes. I have a real hard time using $200 knives for their intended uses.

Ya that's why I asked. I don't FB either. I did see he had a phone number and a 6 week lead time.

I still don't know if I would actually carry a fixed blade. I'm not a knife guy but those at too cool not to look into farther.

Im not a BIG knife guy, but i do have a good handful. Mostly fixed blades though. Never spnt over 100 before on one either, but i might after the new year.

Knives, like guns, get better once you step outside mass production and spend some cash... I consider entry level up to $250-$300. Better knives start above $300, better steel, better made, lifetime of service guaranteed. Then you go $750ish and above and omg, you'll start spending $$$. My EDC is worth more than my Sig Legion, and if you handle it, you'd understand. Weight, balance, opening, edge/steel!!! If you're gonna splurge, step it up ; )

There's a guy on LinkedIn by the name of Charles Neely III from TX. told him her should join here so he could show his knives. Some nice pieces. I have NO use for them, but....tempted.

Wow I can honestly say until this new forum I had no clue that people owned knives like that. Right now I'm carrying a cheap throw away because I'm too afraid to lose a $40 knife.
