Me too. Built up a 308 upper receiver and swapped out the night force on my 700 for a golden eagle.

well I may have a chance to get out there and shoot this. my job told me i"m not allowed to work overtime so I'm gonna try and change up my schedule to account for the days my range is open.

No. Next range time is scheduled for late January. Hopefully the new NYGF AR will be ready for the trip.

How do I score a double hit on one cookie? I've got one in the middle and one on the edge. Five? Six? Zero?

So before I post my entry, let me run through the list of excuses -
- I had to excavate my way into the outdoor range at Camden, and broke the mini-shovel I keep in the car (cheap shovel+heavy wet snow). Then I used my hands to dig my way in, then carried all my stuff from my car. Very tiring.
- I originally planned to do as many of the challenges as I could, but couldn't get the SIG Romeo5 on my AR sighted-in very well; plus my eyesight at distance is horrid even with prescription
- The challenge target didn't print at full-page size, so I'd estimate it at 80% the full-size.
- The individual cookies were about the size of my front sight at 10 yards.. makes it tough! I haven't done enough training at that distance for precision (and it shows)
- I had a Streamlight TLR-1 weaponlight attached which I thought might help, but really just added weight
- My arms were tired from the shoveling
Description of gun - Smith&Wesson M&P 2.0 9mm; stock trigger, aftermarket AmeriGlo night-sights
Distance - 10 yards
Stance or rest used - Freestyle (standing, 2 hand grip, with gloves)
Caliber/Cartridge - 9 mm
Load used - Aguila 9mm 115 gr Ball
Date - December 19, 2017
Without further complaints, here you go -
In the future I need to do some research and determine a good 'precision' load to use; in 'warm-up' I tried both Blazer Brass 124gr and the Aquila 115gr and the 115 seemed to have better point-of-aim. I should have brought a larger variety but I was lugging enough stuff as it was.
If I'm scoring correctly -
5x edges (5 points) = 25
2x center (if I give myself the tree - 6 points) = 12
Total score: 37

I was hoping someone will shoot the 100 red dot/iron & the 200 with me. I left 7Xs at 100 and 2 points/ 3Xs at 200 on the table.

I might. Depends on how much brass I can get converted. The only thing that is wearing a red dot right now is the 30 Herrett. I definitely want to do the 200 (with the 6.8 probably).

so i get out of work at 1pm on christmas eve. let's see if i can make it to the range and do the 200 yrd challenge all before 4 oclock when they close.
I am supposed to get my 6.5 CM barrel and a few other parts on the 26th so I will be looking to shoot the new upper the following weekend. Maybe for the January challenge on the 1st.
Nobody go shooting today? I didn't, had to go stop by my LGS to pick up a part I will need on the day after Christmas and go grocery shopping for the final things on the Dinner list. My Gun dealer gave me a bag when I walked through her door and said, "Merry Christmas. " It contained two toys for my cat Sweetie and two boxes of Federal American Eagle 6.5 Creedmoor 140 grain OTM. I am definitely a lucky guy to have such good friends. The cat is loving the catnip mouse she received, Haven't been able to get it away from her since I handed it to her.
Looks like Christmas Eve is going to be the best day to shoot up in my neck of the woods.

I think the number of targets I shoot is fair since that one day is the only opportunity I have to shoot all month. My shooting skills lay dormant for weeks, need to warm em up after all.
