.223 Rem
So I took a friend and his wife to a CT range to shoot for the first time. They wanted to shoot handguns, so I figured a 9mm would be perfect. We rented a Glock 48. He did ok. I started her on some dry-fire, looked good. I load up the mag, she starts shooting, calmly drills out the bullseye with 5 shots into 1 hole at 3 yards, then says "ok, I'm done" and sets it down. She was perfectly fine physically but didn't like being behind the noise and flash and has no interest in ever shooting again. I'm never starting a new shooter on anything but a .22 LR again. That drives me up a wall. I always start new shooters out with a 22LR and then work their way up based upon their comfort level and competency
