Not sure what NY has to do with a PA thread. There where it is clearly legal and accepted it makes sense to exercise that right if you choose to. Remember, I said locations and situations are different?

NY was brought into it because you're the one who said you don't need approval (see below quote). Now I can't imagine for even a split second you were referring to needing approval from the forum members here, because that would be utterly ridiculous. Obviously you don't need our approval.
So who's approval were you referring to? Pennsylvania? You OC'd there specifically because you did get there approval, thereby proving you do need approval contradicting your statement below that you don't need approval.
If you weren't referring to needing approval in PA, then where were you referring to not needing approval from? We just established you didn't need forum member approval, and in fact you do need PA approval. So NY came to mind since my guess is you spend most of your time in what I presume is your home state.

Finally, doing something where it is clearly lawful is different than doing it where it may be a gray area. It's called using good judgement.

There are pros and cons of both methods. As stated for the third time, locations and situations are different.
It can be said that the presence of a gun will deter would-be criminals and help to bolster the reputation of responsible gun owners.
Another one of the key benefits of openly carrying your firearm is how easily it can be accessed in an emergency situation. While those who opt to conceal their firearms can practice techniques to limit their draw time, it will generally be faster to draw from an open carry holster.
It is much more comfortable and convenient. There are many others as well. You can educate yourself on the subject if you wish, but I know you will not.
You fantasize about a senecio in your head how you're going to draw a secret gun and save the day, but those situations are few and far between. You are much more likely to come across a simple thief who wants to try to steal your phone or wallet or just wants to randomly attack you with their fists because of the derangement out there now. An openly displayed firearm will turn these low level but most common criminals off and shows that you aren't an easy target.
In your case, maybe you get knocked to the ground and can draw and fire before you lose consciousness, but I'd rather just have it be deterred from the start.
Pros and cons. Different locations and situations. I'm not advocating for all of one or all of the other. The intent of the thread was not to debate this. I went and had an enjoyable and successful trip. Everyone was polite and respectful towards me. This thread can now be closed. No sharpshooters tried to take me out. All is well.

Just wanted to make my comment, my $.02...
I respect the fact that different flavors are for different folks, and that's ok. Whatever floats your boat or tickles your Weezer is fine by me, just don't go waving your Weezer around, or in my face, lmao!
From a pure situational standpoint and consideration, in my mind... "MY" being key word.
I feel more comfortable and at the ready, concealed, that if I had to broadcast. Open carry is definitely in my opinion, more useful for "visual" deterrent, than practical for any civilian happening about to/fro any typical daily activity. Open carry has it place, and usefulness, but not for the purpose of personal defense.
As noted, I don't walk around with my black belt on... Or tell everyone I know 3 easy ways to turn their lights out (lol)... I'm always situational aware, and I wouldn't want to give up any slight advantage I might have in an undue situation by letting someone focus on me at all. I want to blend in the background and be formless, seen, but not seen, no big deal, nothing there, etc. It works for the best, trust me! That said, walking on Capitol Hill and wanting to make a statement, sure! I would still probably have my backup concealed too, lmao! I don't know... Just never really got open carry, and it is in all likelihood, a condition of my NY programming... Lmao!
