I've never reviewed a hospital bill (of which I've had to look over many), which listed masks, gloves, scrubs, soap, the actual thread for stitches, etc as line items. Show one.
What do you guys think of this?

i get your point, and I am also torn on this because they are needed medical supplies. but what others, and myself get concerned about is the "precedent" it sets. like someone else mentioned, what is considered hoarding, and what is considered important enough for the government to say "we are taking your stuff because we think its needed".
another member mentioned he had something like 50,000 rounds of 9mm ammo on hand. what if police departments cant buy ammo and decide "hey, so and so has 50,000 rounds, lets take his".

This conversation is absurd. We all live in the same country. Not one person in this country owns their own property, unless of course you are a Native American on tribal land. Just don't pay the taxes on the real estate property you rent from the government and you'll blatantly understand how you don't own the property, even if you have no mortgage.
Eminent domain spells out the legality of you relinquishing ownership of the property you think you own to the government for 'FMV'. Which by the way, is established by the same people taking said property in the first place. Not sure how that can be misinterpreted as FAIR Market Value.
Obviously the same seizure can be exercised on other personal property through the Defense Production Act.
Neither of the above governmental actions is a secret, hidden from our review or misrepresented in any way shape or form. If anyone doesn't like it they are free to GTFO and go live in a better, more free country. Living here under your own free will means you accept the conditions as set forth. You don't get to make up your own rules.

Thankfully the government is finally doing this and will continue to so our health care workers can continue to fight this pandemic with at least a modicum of protection. Every time my job gives me an N95 mask, I drop it off at my mother’s house because she can’t get them at work because of human excrement like the ones being discussed here.

The guy who spent his own money to fill a warehouse is the good guy here, the government agents stealing it are the bad guys.
Read closer. Spat actually stated (and then based on a statement of mine, restated) that price gouging and hoarding is actually the best way to get supplies to those that need it.
As for “precedent” - ie, slippery slope and hypotheticals - you should know by now that I don’t use that type of logic to justify my positions. I address that which is in front of me.
