True, i do know you don't get mixed up in the hypotheticals. My wife is a nurse I am also sympathetic to our health care workers needs as we fight a freaking global pandemic........... but........... I don't have a lot of trust in our government (although its gotten a little better with Trump) so I can't help but be concerned about what they might do next.

Think of "price gouging" as privatization of those emergency stockpiles.
In fact, the government could put the "price gougers" out of business by *just* maintaining their own stockpile.
So, you are using the government's failure to manage emergency supplies as the justification for putting them in charge of all emergency supplies ? You sure you're not a Democrat ?

I'm not seeing the contradiction.
The government failed to maintain adequate stockpiles. It also prevents private industry from doing so as well, because any attempt to cover your carrying cost and risk is deemed "price gouging".
Also, you have clearly stated that the government should get to decide who gets this stuff, otherwise the guy would get to keep his stuff in his warehouse.
