I love pull ups, at my best i could do 30 full extension, no swing.I've been really focusing on pullups and chin ups lately. I spent a few weeks seeing how long it would take me to do 40 of each after doing 100 perfect form pushups for time. I've switched to sets now, 45 second rest between. I can usually do 12-14 on my first set. Today I did 10, 10, 8, 6. I was hoping to get three sets of 10 before dropping down (since I didn't push it on the first set).
Thats also been my issue, i pushed too hard for too long and get an overuse injury. Ive been getting smarter, but I have a lot of scar tissue in my joints that lead me to getting injuries again. I'm really hoping that my next doctor visit will help clear up this last issue and then I can get on a good streak again.Uggghhhh. This is my 2nd week of getting back into working out. I was short of breath while eating a sandwich. Starting out painfully with pull ups and running. Maybe I’ll throw in a sit-up. @Celt dont over do it! No point in hurting yourself.

I was 27,weighed 205 at about 9%bf. Best shape of my life. I havent been able to do any the past year due to the shoulder, but im hoping soon ill be ready to go.That's a lot. Even in Airborne school where I had to do pullups just to get into the chow hall (...and was only 19 years old), my best was around 20.
I think now I can get to 20 or slightly more but I don't see myself ever doing 30!
Your not kidding man.. ive actually debated higher a trainer to help me program a new routine around my old injuries/limitations, but i dont know how to find a good one for older guys.Getting old sucks. Hope it goes well.

There are actual push ups, then there are military "push ups"... Just sayin'.
Had my right knee replacement revised (replaced the lower part which had become loose) September 17th. My soon to be former spouse moved to North Carolina near the end of June. I have become quite friendly with a young woman from the puppy park. After surgery she cooked, cleaned, took me to PT and massaged my leg every day. We're spending Christmas together.
Since mid October I've been swimming again. At least 4 times a week for an hour, 1/2 with webbed gloves and fins. Felt so good the other day I told my eldest daughter I felt like a predator when I started swimming with the gloves and fins. The days I don't swim I do my Total Gym, lift some light weights at home and walk the dog for at least 2 miles on flat ground. No hunting or hiking for the next few months. Surgeon told me to only swim the crawl no frog kicking breststroke, that kick torques the knee too much. I've dropped about 25 lbs. since working out again, 3 belt notches. I feel strong and fit.
Awesome JJG. Right in my wheelhouse.
What distance are you covering in that 1 hr. swim? I can't use the webbed gloves or paddles. They put too much pressure on my shoulder, rotator cuff, and bursa sac.
Good luck on the recovery. Swimming is the single best exercise for rehab.
Any meds? Diastolic is low. Not too low but low!
Congrats.
Does your pecker still work?
That’s the real test.
That sucks bro.. getting old is hard. When are you going for surgery? Is there a mouth in there?
Tore my right medial meniscus.
Sucks.
