Anyone have a source for a g17 gen 5 frame? Or does anyone know if a gen 5 slide with a gen 4 frame?

Sadly they dont last long. But these guys seem to have the most consistent supply of gen 4 and gen 5 frames

Ok so I will start with i know this info because i was told directly from Glock when i asked them about buying from them just a stripped frame.
More importantly a gen 4 frame, and as I told the rep at glock, all I see are gen 3 frames everywhere for sale all the time but never any gen 4s.
So glock will not sell individual frames or even slides, not even to suppliers or even law enforcement.
So everytime you see shops online offering OEM anything its because they have ordered full guns and then strip all the parts and sell them that way.
From what I have gathered is Big Tex has the most regularly available gen 4 and 5 frames (hard to get them stripped, usually only has 5he complete frames) I'm guessing they do this based in their inventory of other OEM parts, since the frames sell like hotcakes but other parts may not they will wait until those supplies need to be replenished before ordering qpl those other full guns.
So that's the long answer. 5hr short answer is they seem to have the best supply and they do semi regularly have them stocked. I'd get the email notification but also book mark the page and check it daily. That's how I ended up with my gen 4 frame they had 1 left in stock

Thanks for the info. I am definitely checking them daily and signed up for notifications. I got a project going on, it was a spur of the moment buy. The project is a range/gssf unlimited class pistol but I don’t want to mod my current g17 gen 5 because I use it in gssf civilian and competition class. so I need a new frame to add all the goodies too for unlimited. I guess I should have done more research on frames, worse case I could buy another g17 gen 5.
Yea they actually seem to get gen 5 frames and 19x frames in more frequently than gen 4 frames.

Would you know if a gen 5 slide work on a gen 4 frame?
Ik actually researching that now for you lol. Because from my understanding...... a gen 4 slide will work on a gen 5 frame. So I am trying to find if it will work the other way as well
I hate ar15com. But it appears it will work.. I know the gen 4 slide on 5 frame needs a gen 5 back plate ...

So it looks like people are dropping a gen 5 slide (17) on a gen 4 (19) frame
You may need a gen 4 barrel due to the gen 1-4 17 glock barrels have a different lock up geometry than the 19 and 26... but the gen 5 g17 barrels has the same as the 19 so it can be used with a g19 locking block

maybe I will just wait for a gen 5 frame lol. I just need to be patient. I have more parts to buy in the mean time. Been looking for a rmr......that the costliest part of this build
Sadly they really are haha, I need to get one for my P07 and they have some less expensive models but even still kick in the pants

I think I want the rm06 lol. New to this stuff. Do you absolute Cowitness or 1/3? I am leaning toward 1/3. Id almost go with that new Aimpoint if it would fit.
The aimpoint will fit. And I just use Ameriglo suppressor sights.
With a handgun especially the two sights work independently of eachother so the sight really shouldnt cowitness either way

This is the slide I picked up. I didn’t pay that price. Ill do more research on the Aimpoint, if it will fit a rmr slide, I might get on the preorder
Oh ok so its pre cut for an RMR then the aimpoint sadly wont work it has a different footprint

So for competition they seem to be one of the go to triggers, with that being said (and I'm sure someone more knowledgeable may chime in, hopefully) I do believe there have been some cases of the triggers possibly side stepping the factory safeties. There was a video of a guy at a class and whenever he reholstered the trigger would drop the firing pin.. some had said that a pin had walked out or he tuned it to be to light I'm not 100% sure. But with that being said, zev really is one of the top names in competition glocks

I don’t plan on messing with spring or anything. I was going for a easy drop in. I’ll have to research the incident.
I'm not saying the zev is a bad choice, sadly I don't have enough personal research on the triggers I just know I have heard of some concerns. But I'm sure there is more to those stories than other subpar triggers.
