Tonight I might be able to shed some light on the difference in the gen 3 vs 4 assembly and spring weight, tonight. But, no tungsten to try.

Holy cow I have some research to do lol. The stock parts are not a big deal cause I could always use it on my stock g17 pistol. But I was looking at the zev upper kit.

I haven’t really researched upper kits, thought about going stock ontil reading this thread lol. I’m not opposed to buying aftermarket. I also never thought much about the recoil spring either but if I’m going to build it why not. I wouldnt say I am trying to go cheap on this build, I just didn’t want to buy a whole pistol for the frame. This pistol build will be cheaper than some of my rifles projects. I really appreciate the help guys

The stock slide parts minus a recoil spring are about $85-$90. Some the the Zev parts are pricey. Almost half the cost is the striker.

If you need a barrel, slide parts and a frame your $400 plus in. If you can get a whole pistol for $450 you would have all the parts you need and have 3 mags and a bare slide to sell. Not to mention a spare recoil($20) spring for your stock pistol.

Im a cheapskate as you can tell ...lol

I like that kind for competition (in theory anyways ive never tried it) but the extending the barrel will help with keeping the fps up.

Here is an absolute horrible video of me shooting, trying to hold the camera and focus the camera and well shoot is a bitch

Do u notice much difference? I am thinking about going with a slightly longer barrel with or without ports. I do like the look of a slightly longer barrel, like my g40. It will never be a carry gun unless the zombie apocalypse happens.

Oh and as of now I'm thinking the ported barrel is going to stay, I really want to get my hands on a chronograph. This way I can verify the actual fps of carry ammo and make sure I'm not losing all that much fps like mod k claims.

And so I didnt notice "less felt" recoil like I may have hyped myself into wanting to feel, but but I very much noticed the dot (and front sight) fly right back on target compared to not ported

If I got the ports like my photo above and didn’t like it I could always have them removed if I did not like them. Idk if kkm offers porting. Porting shouldn’t effect a stock pistol function right?

Yeah if you get an extended lenght barrel like above and dont like the ports can always cut and crown the barrel.

I'm not sure if KKM offers it off the shelf but I would reach out and ask and they might do it for you.

And depending on where and how its ported shouldnt affect the gun, if it's over ported and to much gas escapes to fast you may have issues with cycling, but recoil spring could help with that.

But with the style you posted that would have a normal length barrel then the extended part be ported, so something like this should be really good with reliability

In kkm faqs, they state they do not offer porting. Maybe I’ll ask anyways. They do offer free barrel fitting which is a plus.

You were not able to shot them back to back, right? It may have made a bigger difference than you thought. Once I was able to shoot a stock g23 that was compensated back to back with with a regular g23 and I was able to notice a difference.

Also if your going to try to get the fps it would be best to have a stock barrel so testing can be the same day.

The dudes at work thought I was kidding until I brought in my pocket sand. Downside is they sent me the white sand and it looks to much like cocaine for me to keep in my pockets

Just store the sand in a small balloon and keep it........well u know. If the do find it, u might be a millionaire after u heal up

Just a barrel and sights. I have to research sight height. I plan on putting a rmr on when I have the cash. But I want to do a 1/3 cowitness, new territory for me. I just want to buy the correct sights and be done with it.
