Wait a second!!! I only got into a build cause of you two!!! LolI have to do it because I say it every time the subject comes up. Go with an Overwatch trigger and a minus connector!
TAC
Please don't post pictures of your build. That might be all it takes to make start my next build.

I bought a gen 5 slide. Do gen 5 slides work on a gen 3 frame?Any reason for a gen 5? Gen 3 frames can be bought for about $90.

It’s a zev gen 5 slide
I thought about getting a complete gun but I am looking at $450 shipped plus taxes with a gssf coupon. I can get a complete frame for $180 plus shipping. Granted the frame does not come with magazine but I have over 20 g17 mags. I guess I need to see how long I am willing to wait for a gen 5 frame, if it’s too long then I might go with a complete pistol. Just trying to keep cost down.....the slide purchase was a spur of the moment buy.Nice!!! If you bough it bare buying another pistol may not be too bad in the end. On top of the frame you get 3 mags and all the small parts that add up fast.

Thats a good deal on a frame.
and where is the pic of the slide?
Hey I see big Tex has g17 mos frames in stock for $220. As far as I know the g17 mos frame is the same as a g17. Right?@Jaywmustang just tell him it's not an open gun but instead a limited lol

I might have to give them a call tomorrow if I have time. It’s $40 more, I might still wait for the cheaper frames to come in.Yeah I saw that as well and was confused, its the same frame just like a 17 and 34 are the same frame

This is the only part that I am worried about getting. But I am also in no hurry to complete the pistol. Wish I would have started the build sooner, it’s fun shopping for parts. I’ll call them and inquire about when the regular frames will come in and the g17 mos frame. Maybe I can wheel and deal.Yea I mean it's a gamble they could have more in stock on say Tuesday and you spent the extra coin for no reason, or they dont get any for 3 weeks and you miss out on picking this up

Yeah I need a upper parts kit and recoil spring. Are aftermarket parts kits worth it?Either way they are a good company to deal with.. and you may get some pocket sand with your purchase
This is my curiosity also. The next build will be from scratch like you are doing. I know the trigger and connector I will use but have no idea about the internals.Yeah I need a upper parts kit and recoil spring. Are aftermarket parts kits worth it?
No expert here but I dont see the need for anything but stock extractor and spring assembly since they work great. The striker is a tough call, a lightweight one will decrease lock time which could improve accuracy a stock one is $40 and light weight ones start about $60. The stock firing pin safety sucks but solid steel ones are only a few bucks.
The recoil spring system deserves some consideration. Stock is cheep but it is expensive to get gen 4 and 5 spring assembles in different weights. Using a gen 3 system allows for cheep spring changes. It does require a spacer to let them work in the gen 4/5 slides. There are some assemblies for gen 4 that ave the spacer built in, I have not seen them for gen 5 but they might exist but I have not seen them. You can fine some of these options here https://www.ndzperformance.com/NDZ-aftermarket-glock-gen1-4-guide-rods-s/18454.htm
Another thing to consider but is more expensive is a spring assembly that uses a Tungsten Guide Rod the extra weight helps eliminate muzzle flip here is an example Lone Wolf Distributors
I have never compared the gen 3 and gen 4 springs so I cant speak to the advantage of the dual spring but with the gen 3 deal different weight strings are about $8. I think my buddy got his gen 3 string system for his g34 and might try it tonight.
IMHO a striker spring set and reduced power safety plunger spring are well worth while.
In attempts of keeping costs down it can be cheeper to buy the aftermarket parts upfront. Buying the same part twice is where thing can get expensive.
The barrel is a tough one, if you are building from scratch you have to buy one. I have seen tests done with various results. I would like to test this myself and could try my buddies Zev barrel in my pistol, but I dont think I am a good enough shot to provide a good test.
Yes but with this if you buy a stock set then start switching parts out you have left over parts which just means 2nd gun
Yea a lot of ways to look at it. But if building a badass pistol why buy the stock stuff to then replace it with the aftermarket stuff ? Having a pile of stock parts not to be used does not help in keeping costs down. It sounds like the 2 guys asking are building the 2nd pistol.
Oh I was just messing around but then reading this highlighted part may be good for at a match incase something breaks
