Hello! Videographer searching someone willing to be interviewed

Howdy! I'm a filmmaker based in New York City. I'm looking for a person, or group of people, who would defend the second amendment in a recorded interview. This will be used in a personal project, a short documentary, and I would just need a few hours of your day.

Disclaimer: I don't support firearms possession myself, so I may discuss the interviewees' opinions in a respectful manner. Also, I just lived in the US for a few years, so I would appreciate an open attitude to explain the topic, without focusing too much on politics.

Please, contact me if you think you can give me good reasons for carrying a gun while having a positive talk.

I understand what you say, but even if I don't see the need for normal people to own guns, I would never spin expert's words or opinions. I'm not even a journalist, so I don't really have an agenda. I could even agree to not publish the piece if the interviewee is not happy with it.

My aim is to help conciliate divergent positions. At the end of the day, we all want safety for us and our families, so it shouldn't be so hard to agree on some aspects.

Please, let me know if you want to talk a bit more about it.

Maybe explain a little more about what this project is for, what you hope to get out of it and the format of it. Also if you plan on providing compensation since NYC is a bit of a ride for most here.

While you don't feel the need for "Normal" people to own firearms. We "Abnormal" people do. We use them for hunting. We use them for personal protection since we cannot afford armed guards that people with money have. The police cannot protect us. It's impossible for them to unless one walks side by side you all day. Hence why people with money have armed guards. And finally, we have them because our Constitution says we can have them.

There are two types of people in this world. Wolves and sheep. We refuse to be sheep. The only people that can guarantee our own safety or at least give us a fighting chance to not become slaughtered sheep is ourselves with the help of a gun that the wolf will surely have.

Its an unfortunate cycle isn't it? Gross misrepresentation in the media causes us to become insular which encourages further misrepresentation.
@Jordi Rubio , given recent events on this forum people will have a very difficult time as seeing you as genuine. That said talk is cheap the best way to understand the shooting community is in its natural habitat: the range.

If he were willing to travel I may be willing to spend a few hours on the range with him. IF I were convinced he was genuine.

My cousin's father unfriended me from Facebook for daring to respond to his post about getting rid of AR15's and some article about the NYPD Police Commissioner being against reciprocity. His exact words were, " I should be able to voice my opinion without debating it with people like you." He then proceeded to call me a bully and to have a nice life.

Now this is family we are talking about.

After the AAR was completed my Battalion Commander ordered me to "never speak to anyone in the media, ever." Something about the way I told the "female reporter" I only had two uses for the media, one was a target and the other only applied to her and not the camera man.

I hear ya man. I'm glad I don't do Facebook as some of my family members would probably be on my no contact list as well (cousins).


I actually had a conversation today with a nurse from the hospital when they called me for some pre op stuff.

At one point she informed me that no guns or weapons are allowed in the hospital to which I replied "okay, are you providing armed security to keep me safe since I can't protect myself? Her mildly uncomfortable response was "oh I know, but these assault weapons and things". And then i went on to Enlighten her about media propaganda and how AR15s are not assault weapons and function the same as any other hunting gun. I then made all the other typical references with facts to support it, and by the end of the conversation she appeared to actually have a new-found understanding of the 2a and why gun bans are emotional "feel good" laws that actually do nothing.

As you remember I had to speak out back in 2013 around the sign situation, and while I typically would not search out something of this nature if it was good for the cause then I might entertain it.

I don't believe he is an American. Google tells me that Jordi Rubio was born in Barcelona, Spain. In this day and age I doubt he even fully comprehends the Constitution.

Sure! Last years I've been working with artists and NY organizations. They are nice projects but not really interesting from a journalistic point of view. Now I wanted to go a step further and produce something a bit more relevant, and I thought that this is an interesting topic.

So my idea is recording an interview in about 2-3 hours. I could pay for the ride to NYC, but I don't have any funds for this project, as I do it by myself. If possible, it could be also interesting to do it in the expert's home or some place nearby. That would give me a better understanding of the person and their environment.

And finally, what I want to get from this project is just some visibility on my work, and maybe to learn about other's points of views. This is nothing really ambitious, it's more a short documentary / interview and I will probably publish it on youtube and vimeo.

Even if I will try to defend the need of more regulation (with my bad English), the final purpose of the video is not to convince anyone about anything, but just expose the arguments and opinions of this controversial topic in a neutral way.
