Nice looking rig. Care to share components?
I wanted to make sure it was under $700. I came in full at $632 that includes all shipping and taxes.
I am proud of my frugalness.
People make fun of Anderson's being "poverty ponies." Becuse we can't "afford" the good stuff like BCM, Spikes, DD, etc.
Well...I'm not knocking those brands, but I think Anderson and PSA receivers are fine.
Still haven't had someone be able to tell me how/why my PSA premium upper with toolcraft bolt and an FN usa barrel is so vastly inferior anyway...
I read a lot about pieces and parts and manufacturers, seems like there is not a whole hell of difference between many of them.
Same metals, same machining, same specs. I love spikes, I have two AR's with their lowers. They have some great looks, worth the money? Sure.
I had a goal in regards to price, I did better than I set out for..
My next build will be pricier
They all run like a stuck pig.
I have a spikes upper with a wilson barrel. I like it.
It has a yhm gas block, and a mil spec delton bolt.
My best shooting upper doesn't even have a maker on it, just an Anchor Harvey forging mark.
Let us know how that scope works out too.
Anderson makes solid parts. Correct me if I'm wrong but what I have been told is that there are only so many forges and so most of the raw parts are the same between brands, it's just the finish work (roll marks, metal finishes, other small details) that will vary.
Dated but probably still mostly true... AR Lower Receiver FAQ (56k beware) MMS, CMT, LAR, LMT compared... - AR15.COM
I remember when CMT was the cat's meow of lowers. I wonder if that still holds true.
Here is a copied list of uppers for this who are interested:

I think people in the AR world are overly obsessed with minutiae anyway. Some people think if the barrel isn't 4150, Hp/MPI, cold hammer forged and chrome lined...I always say it's becuse before they were ar guys they weren't gun guys.
4140 barrels have only been totally fine for calibers way more powerful and higher pressure than 5.56 for literally decades.
My best ar barrel overall is a nitrided fluted 4140 YHM 20".
My most accurate guns are a Savage model and a tc compass (hilariously). They get along just fine with plain 4140 steel...
I'm sorry my friend, we have a tendency to derail threads. I think we should let this one go back to being about Goperfs ar build.
I will say what determines what is best is based on an individual's situational criteria. Accuracy is relative. What is "best" for benches shooting is different than PRS which is different than what is "best" for taking an single cold bore shot on a mountain goat hunt vs. retained accurate fire under full auto firing conditions.
There is no intention on my part to derail anything.
I still wonder what is more useless in a service rifle, full automatic fire or an inherently inaccurate gun or perhaps they come both combined.

Ok so this might derail the thread... or maybe not
A long time ago built a 6.8 SPC under the watchful eye of a respected member. Had FTF issues from the start. Couldn't figure it out. Well just yesterday my boy went through 20 rounds in not so many minutes. No problem with cycling. Maybe needed some time to adjust?
Tres amigos. Nostros Montamos! Those young fingers are fast! lol.
so what was the problem, F2F, F2E, both? That barrel is not the reason.
things to check: Enough Gas, hammer engagement + spring tension, proper spring, any other interferance or friction.
you used a M16 style heavy bolt carrier right?
As I said no issues as of yesterday maybe needed to break in?Is the gas block tight?
Is the gas port clean?
Are the gas rings in good shape?
Is the gas key tight?
What weight buffer are you running?
Is the bolt failing to return to battery, or are the cartridges hanging up somewhere?
As I said no issues as of yesterday maybe needed to break in?
