Spit-balling curious since I am largely an AR guy but I toy with the idea of an AK now and then- have you any hands on experience with the Thordsen AK's to compare and contrast the NYLAK with?

I will probably build an AR in 308 before I mess with AK's but since you bumped the thread seemed a good time to ask.

I have not but I've held a thordson AR and it just left so much to be desired and well the cost vs the cost of nylak

I will also suggest if you do go ak route and get either stock, 100% get a Krebs Enhanced safety

So since my bastardized saiga is going to be my go to "fighting" rifle for the foreseeable future..

Grabbed one of my pinned 10 round mags to see how my belt set up is so far.

I decided I can move the dump pouch over 3 slots.. add 1 more rifle mag carrier and move the other one and the 2 pistol mags over 1 slot.

I plan on getting when in stock if ever again the Haley Strategic DC3RM as a chest rig as well. And found a decent online source for pinned 10 round mags

Yea the holster is just a stupid Safariland GLS Pro fit until i have the expendable money for the Safariland 6360rds.. but its on their Mid ride UBL I added the single strap to keep it more secure (it weirdly makes a huge difference) but brings the holster down just enough that its easier to grab and draw.

And yea need to get the chest rig plus one more rifle mag carrier and then it will be a good range/class set up i think.

And i like the Haley strategic DC3RM because their inserts (from what im reading) will work with both 5.56 AR mags and x39 AK mags..

And the rig can then later in life be added to a plate carrier (most likely a Crye JPC 2.0 or Spiritus LV119)

That was my original, but that really only ends up being the lower handguard, the stock is already od green.

Well that's a sexy little number right there. Hard to argue. I was thinking of keeping it stock since they're getting kind of scarce?

That was my main concern but figure the finish will be the lowest factor in value. And I can always strip it and get it refinished

I'm just saying Russian import AKs are going to continue to increase in value. You might be looking at a $3,000 asset someday. I wouldn't do anything to alter it right now.

Oh i know, but then again its already altered, its not longer in the sporter configuration by any means.

Only thing that hasn't been done in the conversion is essentially threading the barrep and adding a muzzle device
