We both should get one soon.
I mean I would love to snag one or 2 up

Worry about getting one for now. Don't go sucking em all up like an opportunistic geriatric hogging all the .22lr during the panic.I mean I would love to snag one or 2 up
Yea after I messaged you about looking into a .308 from about that same size I got to looking to other calibers and have always wanted a .458 and it seems to perform well within reasonable distances (I dont even see ranges past 100 or 150) and with a fixed 10 round 5.56 magazine I can swap between the 458 upper for deer season and 5.56 (might do a crazy stupid 7.5") upper for the range and lulz.
Will end up getting the Lee handpress to hand load. 458 (also need to get a chrono) since even basic ammo is going to be about $2 a round and good hunting ammo almost 3

Just get a Tromix upper and throw it onto your lower of choice.Haha dont worry I'll be so lucky to get even 1, especially since now I am throwing myself all in on this 458 build that I want to hopefully have done for opening day of deer season. Well irons sights at a minimum, then maybe some type of optic for next season

Interesting. So is that essentially and open bolt 556?
I see there are variations to shoot 9mm 45 etc but also uppers to shoot 556. I would say I can't imagine it using open bolt for 556 but then again there are 556 open bolt machine guns. Also, MACs use open bolt so I'd imagine it would have to use that mechanism. It would definitely be a cost effective way to get a 556 full auto.
ETA: definitiley open bolt and bad ass
There is a metric ass load of new AK models debuting at Shot Show this year. PSA has some particularly interesting rifles lined up such as their AK5.56 which takes STANAG magazines and presumably has a bolt hold feature. They are also introducing FN made cold hammer forged, chrome lined barrels, starting with the 7.62x39 model. FN makes an excellent barrel, I'd expect above average accuracy from these AKs so equipped. On top of that it seems 2020 is the year of the Kalashnikov clones with several manufacturers offering period correct versions of milled AK47s, AKMs, AK74s and numerous AK103 (and other century series) clones.
PSA has adopted some of the current AK12 features on some of there models too, namely the integrated gas block/front sight post.
It definitely seems to be the year of the AK.
I really hope PSA continues to lock down their QC.PSA is also doing the forged front trunion which is a huge step in a quality reliable AK
It is the year of the ak for sure!! As far as NY compliance goes it’s tough...I find saiga configurations are the easiest on the eyes. The one I have below has a “ny barrel extension” not a flashhider. No holes. There’s also the VZ-58 Liberty rifle. It’s absolutely not a kalashnikov variant but it is cool AF. Stripper fed which it convenient for fixed magazine.
Great to see this thread revitalized. What else is everyone doing for compliance??
F*ck yeahI loved my VZ58
My one gripe is I wish they were threaded for 14/1Left!!I loved my VZ58

I'm still running my NYLAK stock, sadly the Saiga took a back seat to my 450 pistol build.
But I really want to get it down to the AK dude (who makes the stock) and have him give it a real nice once over, and finish the conversion (ie correct rear sights and hopefully gas block and all that jazz)
I also want to add the AGL trigger and SLR Rifleworks handguards and then figure maybe a LVPO on and RS mount
