"I just had a rubber hose thing that slipped over the spigot in my bathtub and I'd run hot water out of that down the bore for a minute"
Ok, that's clever.

Agreed. It's mildly corrosive. The rust you see is not even really from the gun itself for a few days but from the actual primer itself and the crap that is spewed out. But the rust doesn't just go in the barrel. It goes well into the gas tube and back into the action. IDK I just don't like having to clean it right away (or having rust in the gun) if not necessary. Its mildly corrosive. And is a simple, simple thing to flush the bore of the corrosive salt residue by simply pouring water down the bore. A bottle of water before you go home from the range and as much hot water as you feel necessary when you get home, then dry and proceed with whatever cleaning regimen you normally do. I just had a rubber hose thing that slipped over the spigot in my bathtub and I'd run hot water out of that down the bore for a minute, then I'd run a dry bore snake through, then Hoppes then Breakfree. Altogether I think I'd spend 10 minutes on cleaning my 74. I had it for a short time but I got my use out of it, several crates worth.

Well I was just killing some time on the Instagram and stumbled upon Rs_regulators page and yup completely fell in love with their new handguards.
First on with the LVPO is such a sweet setup (would like that for my own, but with a hand stop not the stubby cause NY is great)

That’s why I have one.... actually three in 5.56.Hell even having an AK pattern in 5.56 isn't sacrilegious the fins did it and so didn't Israel
I actually bought 2 saigas from ny legal arms years ago (when they were about half what they are now). Glad they are still around!
I will post this again here because it represents the greatest refinement of the Kalashnikov you can buy:

Definitive Arms custom conversion to take AR mags. They weld a steel magwell housing to the receiver. This also gives a last shot/manual bolt hold, I believe the barrel is cut down to 14.5". You can also have them covert it to 6.5 Grendel. The hand guard is a Krebs Custom, they make it in Mlok now.
No reason something like this couldn't be used with a sporter stock sans muzzle device.
Better start saving up. I think that right there is approaching 3 grand worth of rifle. This right here, if I had the cash and a 5.56 ak, I would have this mod done in heart beat

Also keep in mind AKs are not ARs, stuff like handguards my require some hand fitting.
Its completely custom. That rifle is like a full on ZEV/Agency ect custom Glock. Or a full on Cajun Custom CZ.Oh I know, for both parts and I know the mag adapter is a bit of a unicorn
The 5.45 guns are known to be fairly accurate simply because .30 cal barrel blanks were used only with a .22 bore hammered into them. Its basically a bull barrel. Back in the day I had a very well done Bulgarian parts build 74 with a Bulgy chrome lined, cold hammer forged barrel on it. With good quality Russian 7n6 surplus it would do 2" groups at 100 yards if I was having a good day. Completely on par with my Colt 6920.I am not sure about the 5 45 but a saiga in 223 ir in 308 even better it is considered a great bush / ranch gun. The 308 from izmash comes with beefed up barrels, trunions and 3 lug bolt.
It has been recognized by Russians to be a great combo between the reliability of the platform and the quality and consistency of western ammunition.
The saiga in 16" is a bit short for a 308 but it is pretty compact and fairly accurate. It beats the socom at everything. At the time sold the socom, bought 2 saigas and still had money for 1k rounds of 308.
Agreed. It made a lot of sense when 5.45 was the cheapest ammo next to .22lr though. Remember those days? Freaking ARs were getting chambered in 5.45 cause it was so damn cheap. It is simply a bore and cartrige that doesnt make a lot of sense and with the 223 around in both steel and brass cases even less sense.
I understsnd there are things people simply like but the 5.45 brings nothing to the table and there are a few drawbacks.
No bullets, no brass, cannot reload.
The 223 instead does everything better.
When ine could buy a pallet of 5.45 or tokarec for 1k dollars I would agree. Today nah.
At least one can reload tokarev and have dies for 30 cal bullets.
I am not saying is crap, but you know...why bother?
Exactly.I just want a 5.45 cause why not lol
They're fantastic. I want to SBR it. Maybe. One day. Would have already done so if not for the change in how it's done. I had experimented with making a brace for it using a blade. The thread is on here somewhere but it actually worked out great. The sights are so close to your face that it acts more like a red dot with the front post. This with the non existent recoil is sick. You know those videos where they shoot plates really really fast? You can do that with this and a brace. I have to time myself one day but I can shoot 5 plates in what seems like well under 2 seconds. I keep backing up and the time slows down a bit but the bullets just keep going where you put that sight! This is also my dedicated chipmunk dispatcher. I get headshots with it no problem.I fudging love these little things. Honestly as far as scorpions go I want one of these over the new ones hahaha
Do you live in NY or are you just f*cking with us? (HAHAH)
