Honestly set up with folding arm brace, Trijicon MRO (or even RMR like in the above picture) and one of the surefire scout lights, that's a hard package to beat.

The Galil will also accept the Magpul D60 drum which is a proven reliable magazine.

I like the 9mm's looks better. I would also take it over the 556 in that scenario because it sounds like you could be shooting a whole lot. The 556 is gonna be excruciatingly louder than the 9mm. The muzzle flash and concussion would be substantially more as well. What are the rules with ammo (limited number of mags)? Do we get electronic muffs?
As many mags as you think you can conceivably carry. Yes you get muffs, and any other gear that inconspicuously fits in an innocuous bag.
Here is the caveat. The gun, the mags, the ammo
The gear and any accessories must all fit in the same bag. The bag is so lo pro that you could leave it on a park bench and no one would look twice at it. In terms of its contents anyways.
I would also invest in a good flash hider but still take the 5.56 galil.
Again in a decent descrete backpack you could easily keep one mag in the gun 4 more mags (idk I'm just naming off a number with no real reference) on deck, folding arm brace Trijicon RMR or MRO, and a scout light and the bag still not scream gun bag or tacticooool

Let's say you are far too lazy and impatient to deal with suppressor paperwork. Also assume you would rather spend the money on another gun or ammo.
While I've never used one or been around one, I've always been a fan of these based on the reviews
Well yea suppressor isnt really essential, but just pointing to the fact one could be kept in said bag
A large dildo could also be kept in the bag but let's assume you have as much use for one as the other.

IMHO, of the stamped steel gas guns I always tough the T2 is a better design just because
of the modular nature and stronger bolts and breach. This still with the benefits of inexpensive
stamped steel and casting manufacturing.
Anyone could provide a slant receiver that could easily be newyorkistan compliant for regular stocks since
the entire carrier group is contained and because of its robustness could also support larger calibers
in the same blueprint. Magazine wise is a different story, like always.
The master piece reproduction could have been better but it will take a bigger company with more marketing
to really resuscitate and improve this nice design.
Many are going in the same direction for obvious reasons. Aluminum is great but it is getting more expensive
every day so the next great firearm for the masses could be this one or something very similar.

I stick with the 5.56 in the scenario presented.
Change it to something like "you are in a large vertical urban housing complex and you want to do your best to avoid collateral damage" and my vote would likely change.

77 grain gold dots would be my choice in the Galil set up to mitigate over penetration
That isn't the scenario. Ultimately you need a very discreet arm to see you through a chaotic free for all. I selected the two initial options because of the original topic. But it could be anything I suppose as long as it is compact as possible.

Better check because you might not be able to use those bullets If you have an old surplus barrel. The original ones were 1:12 for the M193 spec. Then if they are aftermarket kits for semiauto and federal compliance it will depend on who put them together. If they are more modern they might have a 1:7 that is fine but not the best choice. The best choice would be 1:8 IMO since we are not going to shoot tracer rounds. That would be perfect with most solid bullets and many bullets up to 82 and some 85gr excluding certain VLDs that are too large for the mags anyway.

If the scenario were 100 yard shots and above , I’d take the 5.56. If at normal self defense distances, I’d take the 9mm. No hearing protection required for the most part compared to 5.56 and a 9mm will kill you just as dead of hit in a vital. Plus it won’t destroy your night vision or rattle your teeth and you can carry more of it. An MP5 was an effective CQB weapon for decades.

Back on topic, let's talk a bit about the Galil Ace.
I find there are a lot of misconceptions about the gun. I own one as many of you know, anyone have any questions? A few obscure points:
-It has a spring loaded firing pin
-There is a POI shift when the top cover with its integral pic rail are removed and reinstalled. It's been right at 1" @ 100 yards for me.
-if you wrap your thumb around the reciprocating charging handle, which is on the left unlike other Kalashnikovs, and then fire you will be fine. No injury or even significant pain. Just fails to cycle.
The folding stock looks a lot like the standard M4 stock but it isn't really. The "receiver extension" isn't round but is actually somewhat triangular. It is also much tighter and doesn't rattle or move hardly at all. I like it.

This is sad to hear.
I do believe that the Galil is the most thought out and best designed Kalashnikov followed closely by the Valmet (which honestly the Israelis just saw what the Finns did and said let's do that but better)
And I know I've said this before and not sure how it is received, but while not a Kalashnikov, the VZ58 is what the original AK should have been (granted its milled not stamped, but the milled VZ is lighter than the stamped AK)
1" isn't enough to matter for anything other than target shooting.
No but still these days its something. But as long as its consistent always to the left or what not
