I dunno, goofy Thordsen stock notwithstanding your AR9 looks pretty cool and I don't see what the Ruger offers over it. Do you have a need for the take down function?
It offers less recoil and no questionable legalities if you ever have to use it. Plus it's disposable. 500 bucks gets you another one.I dunno, goofy Thordsen stock notwithstanding your AR9 looks pretty cool and I don't see what the Ruger offers over it. They are both straight blowback right? I doubt the extra weight of the Ruger makes all that much difference in the recoil department. It offers less recoil and no questionable legalities if you ever have to use it. Plus it's disposable. 500 bucks gets you another one.
The pinned barrel cap can be an issue if they pushed it especially if you did it wrong via a Bullet Guy special with just glue but all that is avoided with this. There is absolutely no question that the Ruger is 50 state legal. They are both straight blowback right? I doubt the extra weight of the Ruger makes all that much difference in the recoil department.
Questionable legalities could be dealt with by removing the trigger guard thingy.
@ArmedCorgi, here is my opinion. Stick with your AR9 and use the money for something else.
Unless you just want a Ruger PC. In that case go ahead and trade in the AR9 to scratch that itch.
I know all about gun itches, they just won't go away till scratched.
You know how long I'd been wanting a 308 semi auto? Years and years, ever since I had to sell my STG58 Para. Then along comes the Galil and all is right with my gun world.
So you gotta decide if you really just want the Ruger.
Build it as a pistol and just do magwell holds.I've actually taken a liking to the CMMG Banshee. But it's so expensive and I'd have to get an SBR stamp to legally have it in the optimum configuration. Anything that short needs a vertical foregrip.

Right there - great point for me. 50 state legal. Awesome travel gun. Some states no pistol but at least you would have a gun. I've traveled a lot with a 357 lever gun but this can break down for suitcase packing. The pinned barrel cap can be an issue if they pushed it especially if you did it wrong via a Bullet Guy special with just glue but all that is avoided with this. Having had both I can say without a doubt that the Ruger has less recoil. You don't get a heavy bolt traveling into a buffer tube like you do with an AR9.
Vs
It's not a lot, but it's just enough that my sights never leave the target. Maybe it's the way I hold it. I don't know. But for me it definitely shoots better.

What recoil?
My AR 9 with a heavy buffer and the proper spring is barely noticeable. I think I notice the noise more than the recoil itself.
Saddest story in the world.I 've never felt the recoil with my AR9.
then again, she hasn't left the safe.
I have to admit I'm a little disappointed in the lack of people selecting "Just shut up in general", lol.
Yes and yes.Do you have another AR? Do you have an accurate bolt gun? All depends on your current inventory.
Ok. @ArmedCorgi
7. If you go out of state with it, no one will give you weird looks like they would with an AR9 with a Thordsen stock. In fact, they'll probably have the same Ruger. It's a hit in free states for some reason.
I've noticed that. The ranges I've been to out of state have more traditional guns than anything else. Lots of M1A's and Mosins.Believe it or not, ARs are not that sought after down here. Everyone owns one, few own more than one. With the availability of basically anything you want they seem to like anything other than ARs. The market right now is so saturated there are sub $400 ARs that aren't moving in the least bit.
Mine was barely noticeable with a .308 spring and a heavy Aktive buffer from Blitzkrieg. It still had some. Just enough to bring the sights up about a quarter of an inch. With the Ruger PCC, it is half that. What recoil?

Yes. Fudd guns. Unmodular guns that have limited customizability. They seem to be a hit in free states. Mostly older ones.Do you mean FUDD GUNS?
What does the PCC have that your rife doesnt? If you like what you have keep it. The only this I see with the PCC is that it can break down and if that is not important why sell what you have.
Not enough to fir in a backpack. I have a 5.11 rush 72 and it's just an inch or two too long to fit an AR upper in it. The PCC is short enough that you can fit the whole thing in there.Wouldn’t the AR break apart as well?

I'm like a roach trap for firearms: They check in, but they don't check out. What is this "sell a gun" thing that you speak of?

I plan on building one of those not a rifle ars. That will fit without an issue. Probably in 9mm.That's why I picked up a sub2k. Hands down the best backpack gun IMHO. I do have bag that has an AR in it, or an AR pistol might be an option, unless the pinned mag is a killer.
I used to transport my AR in a tennis racket bag. The same bag now transports the Ruger. Just get a new bag. It's much cheaper and really isn't all that larger than the smallest bag.
